Advantages: No-nonsense reviews
Disadvantages: No "free" software disk
The recent demise of Future Publishing's DV World magazines leaves Computer Video as THE key source for information on non-linear editing (NLE) equipment - covering both hardware and software. Editor Bob Crabtree has a feisty reputation among his readership. He's loyal to 'his' publication and isn't afraid to speak out when it comes to criticizing the opposition! Produced by a small dedicated editorial team, the magazine also features articles contributed by freelance specialists... Content Down-to-earth, no-nonsense advice is the trademark of Computer Video. And its warts-and-all reviews of products has won the editorial team many a plaudit from grateful consumers! Downside Like all monthly magazines lead times means it is not always bang up-to-date with reviews of equipment etc. However, it is certainly NO worse than any other magazine on this score. However, one issue which has caused a great deal of debate among readers is the lack of software in the form of a "free" monthly CD. The editorial stance has - for some time -been that such additions would inevitably drive up the cost of the publication which,I personally believe, is fair comment. To COMPENSATE for its monthly format the magazine has a very active FREE website forum covering a diverse range of topics/issues at: www.computervideo.net ALL IN ALL AN EXCELLENT PUBLICATION FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN NLE TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER EMERGING DIGITAL COMMUNICATION MEDIUMS/FORMATS - SUCH AS VIDEO STREAMING VIA THE W.W.W.
