We are all obviously interested in computers in shape or form, or we would not be logged on to DooYoo.com would we? However not all of us understand or want to what makes our computers tick and whets new in the hardware and software world of personal computing. I have come across a magazine that will be easy for all to read and digest, fun, well formatted, easy to the eye and above all jargon free. Its name Computer Active, a snip at £1.20 per fortnight, with 100 pages per publication and full colour I have been hocked on the magazine for well over 12 months now not missing a single edition. Computer Active is split up into six different sections 1 News 2 RE-Active 3 Features 4 On Test 5 New Technology 6 Net Active The news section covers a round up of whets in the news regarding computing and I find this always enlightening their always-short columns straight to the point. You can also find out what’s happening in the Internet world and keep track of product updates etc. Re – Active champions your rights with varying problems tackled for the consumer within the pc realm. There always competitions on offer in this section with some great prizes, and you get to have your say with the letter columns. They even try to solve any problems you may be experiencing here and you will find that most of the quires are relevant to your own computing enjoyment and that you can usually relate to other peoples problems yourself. Features change every edition and the most recent copy covered features in depth on Cyber shopping, Videophones and PC Dos and Don’ts. Games, books, CD-ROMs, Downloads and Best Buys are all looked at in the on test section along with many other hot new products on the market. All the products reviewed are given marks for different categories and a chart not un- like the ones shown in the Witch Magazines allows you to compare items before perhaps bu
ying. The New Technology area not only covers computing but all sorts of gadgets and gizmos with full colour photos for you to view all that’s new in the techi market. Finally the Net-Active section as a look at web sites that are well worth a visit and you can usual y see a preview of the sites home page and information regarding the site. Education is also covered in this section. You can probably tell from my enthusiasm how highly I rate this publication and find it to be tremendous value for money. Without a doubt one of the best buys on the news agent’s shelf if computing is your game. One final observation a new magazine came out recently called Web User. I am certain the same people as computer active, it’s identical in format and just as good a read produce it. Any more about that in short while in another product review.
