Advantages: Simple design and layout., Jargon free with complete explanations - It has been certified "crystal-clear" ., Regular useful features.
Disadvantages: Maybe not for someone who knows a lot about computers., Normal amounts of advertising.
ComputerActive! describes itself as "practical advice in plain english" which describes it very well.
The front cover is always full of popular articles to help your computing life easier and normally has relevant information.
Although the magazine includes some advertising it is well made up for in content.
Regular features include:a news section about the latest goings on in the computer industry, hot new products, a competition to win a cool pc, consumeractive - where they stick up for your consumer rights, a list of the weeks top websites, gripping content from Uri Gellar and Michael Hewitt, and a problems page you can write into.
I myself found the magazine very interesting and it uses a fresh, modern layout and has helpful cartoons to help you understand certain aspects of computers.
The workshop has several pages a week of ways in which to use your computer to make your life easier such as "getting the most from your scanner" and "using Winzip".
I would recommend this to anyone who isn't a computer expert and wants to keep up to date with the internet and using their computer.
I got a subscription which included a free folder which was nice.
