Advantages: Well written, useful to all.
Disadvantages: Not great for whizzes
Computeractive first came my way when I was buying my first PC, that months free supplement was a guide to doing just that. I followed the guides advice and I now have a terrific value PC.
All the magazine is written in plain english (they even got an award for this) and any jargon is clearly xplaind on the same page.
Every issue comes with a workshops section showing you how to do certain thingsa, from basics up to hardware installation.
The news sections are always up to date and informative, and if you have a problem there is a help page, and they have a phone line you can call for help.
The mag often has freebies, not gimmicky vut good ones like help books or workshop catalogues, and they sell binders to keep all the issues safe. They have a shop online too, so you can order direct, and all this is only £1.20 a fortnight.
Its well written, aimed to the lower end of ability, but even "techies" will find the news helpful and the problem pages throw up some really obscure ones that some of my expert colleagues had never heard of.
Great value !
