Advantages: Cheap. Understandable.

Disadvantages: Not very in-depth software reviews

I have been buying Computeractive from almost its first issue. And whilst my knowledge of computers has grown in the meantime (I'm still no expert), I find there is still plenty to interest me in the magazine. Its all written in plain English (and has won an award for being so), but without being patronising. In one section it might explain for beginners what a hard drive is, and then later on explain how to partition one. So there really is something for everyone. The reviews of hardware and peripherals are particularly useful...there are frequent updates on best scanners, printers etc.
Most computer magazines are either aimed at gamers, or else business users. Computeractive is a good all-rounder. Well worth £1.20
