Poor man's PC mag (Computeractive)
Advantages: Cheap, reader friendly, no pointless cover discs, mass appealable (both for veteran and novice PC users), nice layout, comes out fortnightly, good amount of content, not too many ads; a useful and valid buy overall Disadvantages: Price has risen, not a wholely essential PC mag (but very close)
Even though Computeractive! is a mag solely aimed at the novice/new computer user, especially with it's anti-confusing jargon stance (well done!), I couldn't help picking up a copy quite a while back, as the price was a mere 99p! This was great, as most computer mags start at well over pound, and even though this mag didn't come with any cover disc, I didn't really care as most cover discs are tripe and I can get the software I want from the net. anyway. I also managed to bag a free trial subscription at one point which was ace too (this was a limited offer ages ago, using an Ambalink cover voucher). Summary: |
