Advantages: Cheap, reader friendly, no pointless cover discs, mass appealable (both for veteran and novice PC users), nice layout, comes out fortnightly, good amount of content, not too many ads; a useful and valid buy overall

Disadvantages: Price has risen, not a wholely essential PC mag (but very close)

Even though Computeractive! is a mag solely aimed at the novice/new computer user, especially with it's anti-confusing jargon stance (well done!), I couldn't help picking up a copy quite a while back, as the price was a mere 99p! This was great, as most computer mags start at well over pound, and even though this mag didn't come with any cover disc, I didn't really care as most cover discs are tripe and I can get the software I want from the net. anyway. I also managed to bag a free trial subscription at one point which was ace too (this was a limited offer ages ago, using an Ambalink cover voucher).
The thing that makes Computeractive! mass appealable is that aswell as being reader friendly, it does indeed have the latest news, views and reviews as you would expect from most magazines, and when you get them laid out in this style, and at this price, it's almost an irresistible computer mag to resist!
It's not a mag for Mac users (haha dubgirl! =)), so it loses some points there, as the 'computer' in the title is a broad term not just for PC's.
It comes out fortnightly (most PC mags are published monthly), and you get a good amount to read for that time; and it's not thick and bombarded with adverts, like other mags, even though there is a bit. And in honesty, some of the PC help aimed at the novice can be of use to veteran users as there undoubtedly are things we all overlook, so this brilliant little fortnight mag (nice layout and bright as well) really has made a niche in being a universally appealable PC mag, and one that's up to date, one that's smart, and one for all pockets! If you're a PC owner, give it a go, you might like it! Mac users don't bother.
My only gripe now is that the price has been upped to £1.98 (ooh), still not bad, but I really don't mind living without Computeractive!, that's another bad thing about it, no matter how good it is, it's not essential. But do
give it a go once/for a while if you haven't already, I wholeheartedly back this mag, it's one of the best PC mags available as it's a sly contender.
