Advantages: Simple, clear layout, low price

Disadvantages: Too simple for some

I have only just discovered computeractive and I have to say that it is the most simple, best laid out and easiest to understand computer magazine that I have ever found. The secret of this publication is that it takes the side of the average user/consumer and not the expert. This means that jargon, when it is used, is explained. The instruction articles too are very simple to follow.

Other advantages include the fact that it is a fortnightly magazine. This means that news stories are more up to date. Also the pages are not filled with advertising or free cd-roms (which are invariably useless anyway).

Perhaps the most impressive thing of all however is the fact that I understand it. After years of being baffled by technojargon in mags like "What/which/computer/shopper/buyer/user" at last I am able to make sense of it all.

At less than £1 / issue if you subscribe, you simply cannot go wrong.

I buy it because it explains things simply and clearly and I agree about the cd-roms. Why not just reduce the price of the magazines?

I agree very much in layman terms an excellent magazine.
