This publication is fortnightly and is in plain english and is for beginners. Not just beginners though as my husband sneaks a look and picks up useful snippets now and then. When we got our pc I had never used on and thought I would never use it. A friend recommended I get this delivered and I am soo glad I did. Every two weeks you recieve a cd and a workbook which are collected in the free binders you recieve, to make in the end an impressive collection. The tasks range from sending e-mails to designing and making cards, and there is a new project every issue. There is also a simple guide to the pc and how to use it. Sometimes I feel clever as ... Simply Computers is a small mail order based computer company in London. They put out Update magazine and also advertise all over the place. They love accepting orders and taking money. The problem is that they take far more orders than they can handle. That means many people end up waiting a very long time for their order to be filled and if someone calls in he or she will be on hold for up to half an hour and then get absolutely no answers from the clueless operators. I've managed to wrangle compensation out of Simply for the huge delay and general rudeness I've experienced. The compensation took the form of a scanner with all the wires ... Given this, I didn't have high expectations, but I have to say that Surfed magazine is certainly worth picking up. First, it's not all advertising, no more than any other computing magazine anyway. In any case, I even found some of the adverts of interest - some of the ones for websites caught my eye and I did end up taking a look at them. There are features on various subject areas - sport, music, finance, medical sites, travel, and so on - with short write ups on several relevant sites, usually ... Read the complete review

Like many of you I am an avid computer magazine reader. I can’t resist when out shopping in town popping in to WH Smiths and you can usually bet I will come out with a pc mag or two. The problem is though the price of theses magazines, why are they so expensive to buy? I don’t have a great deal of disposable income to play with and I have to juggle the pennies if I want to buy more than one. At £4.99 for many of the run of the mill mags I think that this price is with out doubt extortionate. Don’t the publishers make enough on the advertising in these mags to keep the price down, I mean lets be fair there are enough of the dam ... Read the complete review
