... I’m honest, I don’t usually do magazines. I always think that those endless rows of glossies that you see adorning the shelves of WH Smith are just a license to print money. There’s usually everything from magazines for puppet enthusiasts to the riveting “Crochet Monthly” and sometimes the “Bank of England” weekly, which may *well* be a license to print money – who knows? However, I’ve recently bucked the trend ap... Read the full review: A Magazine For My Life on the Net (Not from the Top Shelf) by marandina |

PC Plus ... has updated itself in the December 2005 edition due to increased competition in it s market sector. The magazine seems to be aimed at IT professionals and people who have more intermediate computer knowledge i.e. those that know the difference between an operating system and an office suite. Accompanying CD/DVD- Each issue the magazine has a CD edition and a DVD edition containing software. The DVD edition is about £2 more expensive but contains more software. The software is a mixture of trial programs e.g. Dreamweaver, copies of commercial programs for home use e.g. ZoneAlarm and open source software e.g. The Gimp. The software is divided into categories such as... Read the full review: Revamped for 2006 by olly374 |

Computeractive ... is a magazine that I have been buying for the last two years. Its not one that I buy every time it comes out, but I will buy it when I see that there s a main feature that I have an interest in, a workshop that could come in handy or I need something to read. This magazine is released every two weeks and costs £1.35 but this has increased quite considerable over the last couple of years. I was paying £1 back in the beginning for an issue. This is a great magazine but not comprehensive enough for the more hardcore computer fan, but a great read for catching up on the latest news, hardware and software. All articles are accompanied by pictures or graphics and... Read the full review: As stated...simple clear advice! by johnsy32 |

PC Advisor ... INTRODUCTION* I “celebrated” my 40th birthday recently. I was very lucky and happened to receive a brand new, shiny PC as a present from my brother and my parents. Despite having a job as a systems/business analyst (managing a marketing database), I am remarkably uneducated about the inner workings of the humble personal computer. As I now have one that is adoringly and lovingly used on a daily basis, I felt decided it was time for a personal training and education programme! There’s a rake of publications out there aimed at the home PC user, and as the rest of my family subscribe to PC Advisor, I thought I could do worse than start here! *CONTENT & LAYOUT* Thi...
