Computeractive:
... m an irregular reader of Computer Active - mostly buying it when I m off on holiday to give me something to flick through whilst on the plane. I used to buy it a lot more in my younger days, but feel as though I ve out-grown the magazine now. Computer Active claims to give readers a plain English guide to computers and you can t really disagree with that - all technical details are nicely explained and even the mo... I was quite happy with my lot - a telly, BT landline, car, and the usual inexpensive trappings of most households - except a computer and mobile phone. "What," I asked, "would I need a mobile phone for, or a computer?" and usually had an answer for all the arguments put to me for considering giving both a try - especially a computer My nephew was a computer buff who enjoys reconditioning or upgrading second hand computers. One day he arrived at my home, carrying a huge monitor, and was closely followed by his son, struggling under the weight of the PC, and w... Web User ... m an irregular reader of Web User magazine - I probably buy 3 or 4 copies per year to give me something to flick through whilst I m on holiday. I find Web User to be a very basic magazine - it s seemingly aimed at novice computer users or people who aren t overly-confident about using the Internet. I m a professional web developer and so I find that a lot of the articles are below my knowledge level. Saying that, I still buy the magazine as it s an easy read and does showcase some interesting websites. My favourites aspects of the mag are the website review sections where they look at newly-launched websites as well as comparing websites from a specific industry or se... Net Magazine ... is a fantastic magazine for web designers and developers which is packed full of the latest news from the world wide web. I ve been a subscriber since I got my job in the industry and it really has taught me so much. Regular features include: - latest web news - interviews with web professionals - profiles of successful design agencies - application/program reviews - detailed tutorials My favourite section by far is the tutorials that are in the magazine - these are really helpful and range from creating interactive maps in Flash to building custom CMSs with Django. I also enjoy the site build off section where they ask 3 designers to build a website along a ce... Read the full review: An excellent magazine for web professionals by stuff10 |
