Advantages: Bright pictures

Disadvantages: Dumbed down no end

I will occasionally delve into the magazine market to buy some light reading for a short train journey or a day in London and Cosmo is one of the ones I always used to consider buying however these days either my tastes have changed or as I believe their content has changed to the extent where I tend to ignore it.

I do think that over recent years it has certainly dumbed down its content and the obsession with fashion and sex has just continued to dominate the pages within. I also feel that more and more it is reducing the journalistic content in favour of glossy adverts and bright photo spreads of the latest hot item or celebrity crisis.

I find that it is rather garish these days and where once it might have had at least a bit of class with the cover these days the "How to get your man t give you ten orgasms a night" style headline is right in your face, hardly setting a good role model for young girls and this is further highlighted by the osession with using skinny models and touching up the photos of the celebs that appear on the cover or in the photo shoots within.

Personally I find the quality of the journalism to be poor and it is not something I now purchase.
