Cosmopolitan as a word can mean universal which implies that this magazine would be suitable for all ages of women to read but sadly that is no longer the case with this magazine. Once upon a time as an avid reader up until about a year ago I found cosmo both fun and informative to read, but now it seems to have become a glossy magazine that is a platform for adverts. The articles that made it interesting to read seem to only be interesting if you you want to find out how to entice a man or buy the lastest must have fashionable item.. Which is not to say a bad thing but it seems a shame when once this magazine was the best read I could find on the shelf.

In defence of Cosmo though I have to say that it could just be that my tastes have changed as i have got older. Although I have noted recently that the need for magazines to entice readers to buy by adding freebies is increasing so is this because of decreasing sales or the need as a nation to think that we are getting something for nothing. And yes before you ask I am as guilty as the next woman for buying a magazine just for the free gift and found that the magazine itself would have been a waste of money if bought on its own.
