I have been cross stitching for 17 years and find this is one of the most advanced magazines on the market for the hobby. The patterns included within are generally very detailed with a stitch time of at least 50 hours, using full cross stitch, fractional stitches, french knots and back stitch so not for beginners. Some of the charts are very old fashioned in style and it is aimed at older stitchers in general rather than including 'cute' characters or patterns small enough to turn into cards or small gifts. I really enjoy cross stitching and I susbribe to Cross stitch world - however I do look at many of the other magazines on sale. This is one that I often look through but very rarely do I buy it. I think the only times that I have bought it has been at christmas when they have had some christmas card designs that I like in the magazine. I don't buy it because I find many of the designs a bit too old fashioned and just plain boring. I know this magazine is aimed at the more accomplished sewer but that doesn't mean that they have to be lots of desgns of flowers or country gardens.
