Advantages: Good if you like traditional designs

Disadvantages: No good if you like bright colours and modern designs

I really enjoy cross stitching and I susbribe to Cross stitch world - however I do look at many of the other magazines on sale.

This is one that I often look through but very rarely do I buy it. I think the only times that I have bought it has been at christmas when they have had some christmas card designs that I like in the magazine.

I don't buy it because I find many of the designs a bit too old fashioned and just plain boring. I know this magazine is aimed at the more accomplished sewer but that doesn't mean that they have to be lots of desgns of flowers or country gardens. I am sure that it is possible to create some designs which are a bit more up to date and use a slightly brighter array of colours.

I also seem to find that they do very few designs which can be completed in a few evenings - if they are big designs then it means you have to buy all the materials from new and not use up the smaller lengths you may have left over from other projects. This can make it a very expensive hobby to follow.

If you like traditional and fairly dreary colours then this magazine is ideal however I like my sewing to be bright and bang up to date so I don't really like it much.
