Advantages: Read it anywhere, extras you wouldnt find on the internet
Disadvantages: Expensive, can't beat the internet on revealing headlines
In the age of the internet you can find pretty much any information you want, quickly and on the day it becomes available. Many people say that magazines such as CustomPC are worthless when we can get all the information we need on the internet.
However I disagree. I have been a nerd and subscriber of CustomPC for over a year. It my opinion lying in bed with a glossy copy of CustomPC beats sitting in front of my computer burning my eyes out easily.
The reviews are full and provide accurate benchmarks and comparisons. They are serious enough to provide you with all the info you need but with some witty remarks which make you chuckle. You read reviews on all sorts of interesting hardware you would never of known about without CustomPC.
The thing that really keeps me buying CustomPC is the features and extras that are hard to find on the internet. Recently they did a comprehensive guide on water cooling. Okay you could find this info online but this was upto date and written with the UK consumer in mind. They have a section about interesting gadgets, again some things are quite awesome and I would never have known about before.
CustomPC easily beats trawling the web. It is an expensive magazine at £4.25 but if you subscribe it gets cheaper. But for the price it provides you with a huge amount of info.
Summary: Nothng beats a nice glossy magazine!

- 02/08/08 Glad to know I'm not the only one who would rather read from a magazine than a computer screen! |
