What Mountain Bike:
... most folk I don't have £2000 pounds to spend on a bike, or £100 to spend on a set of handle bars, so it was a refreshing change to come across a magazine that seems to be a bit more in tune with your average (i.e. skint) mountain biker. Published every couple of months, What Mountain Bike manages to fit much more of interest between it's covers than either MBR or MBUK. Core to this success are the produ... Mountain Biking UK (MBUK) ... Biking is a religion. MBUK is its bible (a bible that comes out 13 times a year - I'd like to see God top that...). No seriously though, if you want to know the latest gossip from the biking circuit, check out the latest breakthroughs in biking technology, sound advice on what to buy as well as the witty (and often insane) feature pages, this is where you get your fix. Other bike mags have their main article featuring lycra-clad xc jeyboys, mbuk shows you how the sport is expanding. It features more rider profiles, more product testing and just generally more of everything. Also, it is probably the only bike mag in the UK to have its own (successful) biking t... Dirt ... is a magazine aimed at mountain bikers who ride downhill, dual, BSX and dirt jumping. This is right down my street. Unlike its leading competetors it has no pointless sections and does not mess about with cross country which no-one likes. The articles are top-notch written by riders. Regular features include world cup reports, snap- a picture only section, tested sections etc. I buy this magazine every two months(it is bimonthly) because every issue is different. Superb riding is photographed very well. Adverts are neither too many or too few and there appear to be no pointless adverts. However, although everything else is, the tested sections are not distinctive... Read the full review: Dirt Riding at its Best by skidmark |

Mountain Biking UK (MBUK) ... is the an excellent magazine but is really only good for those thinking of buying a new bike, frame or component. The reviews and group tests are second to none and have helped me decide what components to upgrade and which manufacture to choose on many occaisions. They test everything and give a mark out of five. However for those who already have a bike that they are happy with the rest of the magazine is not as good. There are sections on dirt jumping, cross country, downhill and freeride. These sections are generally good but really could be longer and much better. They have introduced new section to teach you new tricks and techniqques and this is also good. Ho...
