Advantages: good for a laugh
Disadvantages: absolute rubbish
I have to say that i cannot STAND the daily mail.
Every time I see it something makes me feel incredibly angry. And i worked in a shop that sold it for 6 months so I've seen a lot of them
Firstly, I do not think any paper that has a photograph of a naked woman on every other page can really be taken seriously. I know a lot of men buy it just for this, and to them i say - be a real man and buy some real porn.
Secondly, I find it racist, sexist and everything else.
Recently I've been particularly annoyed by the story about Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross. I'm all for a bit of privacy and respect when it comes to people sex lives, but when have the daily mail ever gone by that principle? How many kiss and tells have the printed about Russel Brand himself? So to then blow this story soooo out of proportion is really hypocritical of them.
I was reading an article of theirs online last week about Franky Boyles 'disgusting' joke about the queen on mock the week last friday. Can't people see that this will now become a ridiculous witch hunt of British comedians, just for the sake of giving thick people something to be angry about? And the icing on the cake is - this is a newspaper that promotes the disgusting, racist humour of Bernard Manning as Best of British!
I know that this cannot be true of all Daily Mail readers but I think it's fair to say a fair few of them will not watch the news or
read a broadsheet paper, so the daily mail is their only source of news. But it prints a very one sided view on issues like assylum seekers and immogrants which lead to readers having very strong, radical views that just have no justification. And if you compare articles from just a few months back you will see they totally contradict themselves again and again.
I worked in the shop selling the paper during the months when Madeline Mcann was on the front cover every day. I was continuously astonished and disgusted by the Daily Mails insensitive headlines. As i am with basically all their stories.
Generally I just view the daily mail as a more dangerous version of Heat magazine. I guess everyone has their own tastes but I beg readers not to take it too seriously!
Summary: if you must read thi buy a Guardian as well and compare stories on the same subjects
