I do quite like to read the paper and doing so is part of my daily routine. I do occasionally read other papers too but the Mail is my preferred choice. This is because unlike papers like The Sun, it does actually contain news, rather than just pictures of naked girls. I also find some papers like the Times and so on a little too boring and dry. I think the Mail sits just nicely in between these two camps which is probably why it is such a popular paper.
As with most papers, it covers a variety of topics in the weekdays including the popular sports section. There is also a Mail on Saturday and on Sunday too. There are quite a few interesting columists in their employ. For example, there is one called Richard Littejohn whose views are often quite contreversial as he takes quite a strong right wing view. Overall I would not say the paper has a huge political slant though I know people do slate it for being so right wing. I also quite like Tom Utley because he lets a lot of his personal life into his column. Recently I also read the weekly column on the Apprentice which was always very funny and right on the button too.
On Monday there is a Lifestyle section in there. This covers different lifeestyle situations and has stories and advice columns and so on. On Tuesday there is the Good Health section which actually has some very good advice about medical conditions, new treatments and research and advice on staying in top shape. Wednesday has the Money Mail section which gives advice on things like mortgages, insurance, ways to save money and so on. I often find it useful for keeping up to date with which bank is offering the best saving rates. Thursday has the Femail section which is all about shopping, makeup, womens' issues and so on. I really enjoy this section. Friday has the Entertainment section. This offers advice on the best plays, films and books around and is helpful if you're planning a night out later that day.
I think this is one of the better newspapers around and only 50p. I think it sits nicely in that middle ground, both in terms of politics, and in terms of the tabloid/broadsheet battle and I think I shall be reading it for a while to come.
Summary: A good read
