Elle was first published in France in 1945, "Elle" means she in French, it was not until 1985 that it was published in the UK, and today it is read in over 60 countries.

It is true that it doesn't have many articles in it, but I'm more of a visual person so i love looking through and admiring all the beautiful clothes :D, its a great magazine if you want inspiration for a new outfit or for an art project. It's wrong to say you don't learn anything about fashion, because you learn from looking at the pictures, you can see what goes with what, and a nice new way to wear your make up. for me, Elle doesn't tell me what i should look like it just gives me ideas. The printing quality is excellent and the layout is well thought out.

After first trying vogue i found Elle a much better magazine, at £3.90 vogue is higher priced and about half the size, they both contain a lot of adverts but most are from leading fashion designers and are nice to look at. I would suggest subscribing because it will be a lot less expensive than buying separately.

The only other criticism i have is that most of the clothes are far to expensive and they need to look at some normal clothes for few pages.

Advertised as a fashion magazine it could be more accurately described as a catalog, but its a great resource for anyone serious about fashion.
