Advantages: Has a 'young' feel, if you like reading about celebs this might be for you as it often features stunning photos of celebs.

Disadvantages: A bit pricey, not enough serious articles

Elle seems to be the main rival to Vogue and I, for one, prefer it. It has a much younger and fresher feel to it. The interviews are with pop and film stars rather than aristocrats no one has heard of. The fashion pages are a little more cutting edge although, like Vogue, they feature skinny, airbrushed models and over-priced clothes which no 'real' woman would be seen dead in. Elle is quite a good read, although there aren't many serious or indepth articles in it. I wouldn't get a subscription to this magazine, but it's a good read on a long train journey and it's occasionally worth buying for the freebies.
