Premium Review Elle: The best fashion magazine! (259 words)
by - written on 27/10/09 (Useful, 8 readings)
Rating:

Elle was first published in France in 1945, "Elle" means she in French, it was not until 1985 that it was published in the UK, and today it is read in over 60 countries. It is true that it doesn't have many articles in it, but I'm more of a visual person so i love looking through and admiring all the beautiful clothes :D, its ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle Magazine (480 words)
by - written on 11/10/09 (Very useful, 141 readings)
Rating:

I started reading Elle last year, when they had an offer of a 12 month subscription for £12. At £1 an issue, this is great value compared with the usual £3.60 price tag. For your money, you get a monthly fashion magazine, which is usually around 300pages. The cover will usually feature a celebrity, rather than a model, which ...  Read the complete review

I'm a regular subscriber and I really enjoy getting Elle each month. It is definitely a fashion magazine and regularly has beautiful fashion spreads and plenty of articles on new looks and styles out there as well as all the shopping information you could ever need! It does have a wide range of designer labels and high ...  Read the complete review

I'm surprised Elle has got such a low rating on dooyoo- it's my favourite magazine! I can't wait until it comes out every month, it's a real treat! It has to be said that it is a FASHION magazine, so it may not be for everyone. I have divided my points into advantages and disadvantages... :) Fashion! Premium Review Elle: Get's my vote (181 words)
by - written on 19/11/08 (Useful, 18 readings)
Rating:

As with all magazines it depends what you're after as to how you're going to rate it. Elle ticks all the boxes for me. Of all the glossy fashion mags it is the only one that manages to strike a good balance between high-end designer and high street clothes and beauty products. You will be able to afford half the things in it and the other half are ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review first for fashionistas (228 words)
by - written on 11/09/08 (Very useful, 23 readings)
Rating:

I never really buy a regular magazine, but decided to pick up the latest issue since it had Alexa Chung on the cover and I needed something thick to read while in the hairdressers. Elle has always been one of my favourite magazines, but costs too much £3.50 for me to want to buy it religiously every month. I like the fashion articles and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle: Only £3.50 for 419 pages of adverts!!! (359 words)
by - written on 13/08/08 (Very useful, 59 readings)
Rating:

Elle is a glossy magazine full of fashion and articles about fashion. It is good for anyone working in the fashion industry that needs to keep up to date and for those women who are genuinely fashion-obsessed. I felt it was full of adverts so never bought it but hubbie picked up a copy on the train for me last night so I thought I'd ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review it is worth buying this just for the top (227 words)
by - written on 15/06/01 (Useful, 31 readings)
Rating:

I never usually buy elle but was tempted into it this time because of the free top it had with this months issue. It is not a fantastic magazine but at £2.80 for a nice top you should buy it. It is a slash necked vest top which almost looks like it has cap sleeves on it. It is black and has a Elle tag on the side by the waist and will fit sizes ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle: For supermodels! (105 words)
by - written on 20/05/01 (Somewhat useful, 35 readings)
Rating:

If you are in fact a supermodel, then Elle is the magazine for you. It is full of adverts, the clothes featured are always way out of the price range of most women in UK & the models are far too thin, shiny & glamorous! It doesnt represent the average British woman that's for sure. If you win the lottery however, you might ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review My favourite magazine (247 words)
by - written on 17/01/01 (Useful, 32 readings)

I generally read books because since I was young I had the opportunity to find them at home without buying anyone. Now that I'm leaving on my own, I have started to buy books but I have also realised that I love magazines too. It's not exactly the some thing as reading a pleasant book of course, but it has got a different duty: it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle - 'ell of a crap mag! (191 words)
by - written on 22/10/00 (Useful, 38 readings)
Rating:

I genuinly cannot understand why anyone with half a brain would opt to buy this rubbish magazine! I wouldnt class it as a magazine - a picture book would be more apt - and I certainly wouldnt pay for it! For anyone who has browsed through a copy of Elle, you'll no doubt have noticed that on average there is at least 3 to 4 full pages ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Don't bother with this one! (93 words)
by - written on 26/08/00 (12 readings)
Rating:

At this moment, I'm trying very hard to think of something good to say about Elle. I honestly don't think there is unless you like to spend money on hundreds of pages of glossy advertisments, read short and poorly written articles with absolutly no substance and get lost in poor layout and design. You may call it a fresh and modern ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle: Oh please! (286 words)
by - written on 23/08/00 (Very useful, 106 readings)
Rating:

If this is a magazine for contemporary women then I've been marooned on the planet Zarg for the past decade. I would ask who on earth buys this - but I know. It's bought by the folks lured by the freebies on the front. I confess - I am one (the book wasn't bad either). Such freebies are currently the subject of a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Get some substance! (206 words)
by - written on 19/07/00 (Useful, 32 readings)
Rating:

This magazine has potential. I realise that it is a 'fashion magazine' but it is a disappointment for the reason that pages and pages and reams and reams about 'this season's colours' or 'the new trends' get rather tedious after the first few galnces. I suppose (or the implication is) that this is a magazine for the ...  Read the complete review

I bought this because it had a free vest top, and because I had a long train journey ahead of me, oh my goodness how sorry I was although the top is pretty nice and I do wear that I left the mag on the train, what was wrong with it?? Jeeesh !! what was right with it, NOTHING, NADA, NOWT, RIEN, NIKS. I found it an insult to women, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review All adverts, no article(s)! (166 words)
by - written on 16/07/00 (Useful, 18 readings)
Rating:

I swear that if you took all the 'so called' articles out of the book it woul not make an ounce of difference. 1) because if the truth be known the articles are completely uninteresting and worthless, 2) because there are so many adverts that there is no room for the useless articles anyway. When you open up the Elle magazine, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle (116 words)
by - written on 09/07/00 (Useful, 17 readings)
Rating:

Elle seems to be the main rival to Vogue and I, for one, prefer it. It has a much younger and fresher feel to it. The interviews are with pop and film stars rather than aristocrats no one has heard of. The fashion pages are a little more cutting edge although, like Vogue, they feature skinny, airbrushed models and over-priced clothes which no ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Not my kind of magazine (430 words)
by - written on 06/07/00 (Very useful, 76 readings)
Rating:

It is quite difficult to write a review about a magazine unless you buy it on a regular basis as, generally, there are variations between issues and it wouldn’t be fair to write a review based on one very good (or very bad) issue of a publication. From the rating that I have given this particular magazine, you may wonder why I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Elle: Why are women's magazines so bad??? (205 words)
by - written on 21/06/00 (Useful, 70 readings)
Rating:

My reason for buying this magazine? It had a free vest top with it. The reason I bought this magazine last time? It had a really cool free bag with it. The content? To be honest, I'm having a really hard time recalling exactly what was in it. Why? Because it was completely indistinguishable from the usual insulting dross which these ...  Read the complete review
