Advantages: A good casual read but still slightly technical for film study students

Disadvantages: A lot of advertisements

There are many film magazines around the two main ones you'll see on the shelves being - Empire and Total Film - both magazines that I have read. Out of the two though I chose to subscribe to Empire magazine.

I find that Empire magazine gives fair reviews and provides lots of film news to keep you up to date with the latest goings on.

But the best thing I find about the magazine is the many different features that it includes. These features cover a wide range of different subjects and films to ensure that in each issue there will be atleast one article you'll be interested in.

As a previous A level film student I also found that this magazine was a valuable resource for my studies but has also been a magazine that is not too film studies orientated to put off casual readers. Not only does it cover the new films out it also looks back at some of the classics and as quite a young person I found it has enlightened me to films that I would not have necessarily thought to look at because they are not in the public eye.

It also has other features on gadgets and computer games which ensure that you get a different opinion on other areas for people who do not want to buy another magazine.

Overall I would say that this magazine is a good buy and at £3.90 is one of the cheaper magazines on the market.

Summary: A good all rounded magazine for people interested in the latest films out and some older classics.
