There are many film magazines to choose from these days, and to be honest I've only ever read Empire, so my review may be a tad bias, but having said that, after reading Empire for the last few years, I've never felt the need to change, so it must be good. Empire's structure goes a little like this, from front to back,Letters, News, ... Read the complete review

This is my first magazine review so you'll have to bear with me! I'll do the best that I can! Before writing this the 246th Issue has just been released an Empire Magazine has grown to be the "World's Biggest Movie Magazine"! (Their words not mine! So if you're from Total Film or another rival, please don't sue me, I haven't ... Read the complete review

There are many film magazines around the two main ones you'll see on the shelves being - Empire and Total Film - both magazines that I have read. Out of the two though I chose to subscribe to Empire magazine. I find that Empire magazine gives fair reviews and provides lots of film news to keep you up to date with the latest goings ... Way back in the mists of time, when I began my A Levels, one of which was Media Studies, I was advised, by my Media Studies teacher unsurprisingly, to start reading magazines etc related to the media industry. One of the recommendations was to read film magazines, at the time the main candidates were Empire and Premier. I bought a copy of each and ... Read the complete review

If you have read any of my other reviews, you'll notice that most of them are film-related. I do like films! Nearly a year ago, I won a competition and the prize was a year's subscription to Empire magazine. I usually buy it anyway, so I was very happy to have won this. Over the past year, I have patiently waited each month for the latest copy to ... Read the complete review

Empire Magazine is a monthly collection of articles regarding almost everything to do with the world of cinema. It may be slightly difficult to keep this a review to all copies of Empire, what with change of editors and so forth, but for the most part they always adhere to a few core sections and maintain a respectfully high ... I'm a bit of a movie fan. I like to go to the cinema at least once a week, although I've been known to go three or four times in one week, which is actually really rather unhealthy now I come to think of it! I should consider getting out more in all honesty. So, let's face it...the one movie magazine that comes to your head before all ... Read the complete review

Empire has been running now for over fifteen years and this month's issue is the 184th to be released. It has Tom Cruise appearing on the cover for the eighth time since the magazine began back in 1989. Empire is one of the best film magazines that you can buy because of the excellent reviews and articles about movies. There are ... Read the complete review

Started by the film reviewers from Q magazine, Empire had a promising future ahead of it. I personally started reading about 4 years ago and quite quickly asked for a subscription for my birthday, I was so impressed. Empire has had a revamp recently though, and I have to say that the new format just isn't up to the old standard. While ... Read the complete review

I have been buying Empire magazine for around six years now, and for the last four I haven’t missed an issue. I have tried pretty much every other film magazine available, even bought a couple (such as Total Film) fairly regularly for a while. But I always come back to Empire simply because, in my eyes at least, they are the most reliable ... Read the complete review

You've noticed tons of film magazines on the newsagents' shelves. You've noticed how they all ache for that £3 that is loitering in your pocket. You've been eyeing them up, one-by-one, flicking seductively through their pages, wondering which one to take home with you. Mmmmmm....... 1. Total Film. Currently ... Read the complete review

I have read Empire on and off for the last few years but only really got into it the last 12 months as my College room-mate always bought it without fail. It was on moving out I realised that alas it was no longer going to materialise in my room free so I got myself down to the local newsagent and bought my fix. Empire is simply the only ... I read Empire for years then a long while ago I stopped. In one issue the Film of the Month was Die Hard With Avengance, which got five stars, and in the same issue was The Usual Suspects which got three. This wasn't the first but it was the last straw. I had previously gone along to see films that it had given five stars to and was ... Read the complete review

Several face-lifts, various price hikes and an ongoing turnover of editors and yet Empire goes from strength to strength.
