For the majority of women, FHM has long been seen as nothing more than soft porn, to be grouped together with the likes of Nuts, Zoo and Maxim as a typical men's magazine with a main of semi-nude women and a side order of cars, football and a strange fellow in Mongolia who one day decided to eat his own testicles.
However, if any of these women sat down and actually read an issue of this publication they would see that it has much more to offer. Now I'm not going to pretend that the women on the cover and indeed throughout are not one of the main attractions, that would be ridiculous. Evidence of this is given by the magazines annual 100 sexiest women issue. which prompts men of all ages discuss whether they agree with the rankings or not. Although there may be some differences in opinion, for the past couple of years, Cheryl Cole has had the top spot and I'm sure that most men won't have any argument with that. The magazine also runs a high street honeys competition each year, which features young ladies from all over the country.
However, FHM is also packed with articles on a number of topics that are relevant to the modern man including skincare, sex, fashion and fitness. With a recent issue reviewing which moisturiser and shaving technique combination produced the best results. There are also lots of real life stories which make for excellent reading.
It is also worth noting that when reading through, you realise that the whole concept has it's tongue firmly placed in it's cheek. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which is refreshing. The magazine is normally on sale for around £3, this can go down or up depending on the issue. It can be purchased from most newsagents and supermarkets as well as online in the form of a 12 or 6 month subscription
To be honest, I think most of the readers of FHM aren't just looking for pictures of gorgeous women. Such images are readily available in many other, much cheaper magazines or indeed a simple internet search where the woman are a lot more exposed. Whilst these pictures are an attraction, they only open the door, FHM is bursting with content that keeps that door open and keeps readers coming back.
Summary: Not just boobs and bottoms.
