Disadvantages: price
FHM is a monthly magazine written for men undoubtedly enjoyed by women. It costs £3 and is targeted at the younger man. I will not qualify what "younger" is, as I feel the same way I did when I was 21. It is only a personal tragedy that the picture that pops up on this site does not reinforce the vain misconception that I have of myself. As stated, this publication has been written about many times and the opinions range between both extremes. It is well liked on equal terms with being hated. It is either a great read or utter mindless rubbish, worse still it is regarded as degrading and pornographic. That will be why my wife stores it in the garage and not in the magazine rack then! I have been reading this monthly for a few years now, It has had its ups and down, its good days and particularly bad days, but it has maintained its market presence. I class FHM as a light interlude in an otherwise fast and crazy world and I will now proceed to bore the pants off you and tell you why! The magazines prime concern is to entertain enlighten and yes titillate. There is no getting away from this, "sex sells" and you had better accept it - or do you walk about this planet of ours with you head face down trying to figure out new and interesting ways to tie your shoe laces? ~~ Outside Cover A large picture of Martine McCutcheon, the title states “NAUGHTY! Forget everything you thought you knew about Martine McCutcheon” This ex Eastenders songstress is hardly likely to get her kit off and shake her ass for the boys, nor is she likely to promote herself in a male chauvinistic boys magazine so lets take a look inside this months edition, shall we? ~~ The Inside Cover The editor Anthony Noguera will attempt to create the scene of the magazines main features for you, once read go forth grab a coffee, a big cream bun, make yourself comfortable and enjoy. ~~ Letters to the
Editor Based on past issues the reader has the opportunity to sound off about something he /she disliked or praise for what he/she did like. Please note the use of "he/she", the opposite sex does enjoy this publication, go on Girls try and deny it - I have read the letters page and the Ciao reviews! ~~ Reporter These pages are intended to enlighten and educate. No they are not really. They are a light-hearted look at writer Ed Halliwells very personal view of the world. Additionally this section maintains other solid foundation articles about people, places and events. Ok I can concur that all the articles are not based on solid foundation, accept them as a poke at the flaws in humanity, they are just good fun. ~~ Reviews Releases of Albums, Books, Cinema, Videos/Dvd, and Games in addition to a full page dedicated to Sonique, pictured with her clothes on! ~~ Features “Cannibal Voyage”: A story about two ships that went missing in the 19th Century and what evidence suggests the crews ate for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. Of course washed down with a cheeky little Chianti! “Ways to get your mug on Television”: Some ridiculous suggestions for becoming famous. As if anyone would audition for a program called Big Brother or Popstars, I ask you. “Behind Enemy Lines”: A roving reported infiltrates the “Ladies Territory” to find out the thoughts and innermost secrets of the fairer sex. “The Boss”: A huge six pages dedicated to that second rate actor Mel Gibson! “The Forensic Psychiatrist – No thanks, I have just eaten and drunk a little Chianti. There are others, too many to mention, best have a look yourself. ~~ Bar Room Jokes Some good, some dire and some I repeat. Well you have to get your material from somewhere. ~~ Letters from Lesbos. That woke you up! A we
ll-known American Lesbian Sex writer tells you how to make the best of it, as it were. There is something about her writing, something that is missing, something that I just cannot put my hand on! ~~ Fashion Extravaganza: No comment! ~~ Grooming, Interiors, Hardware – At last gizmos for the boys, yes! ~~ Problem Pages and Sex Clinic Hilarious to say the least, of course unless you are unfortunate enough to have one of the conditions reported on. Thank god for Penicillin! ~~Girls Now if you thought I was avoiding this bit, I ain't. I was tantalisingly leaving this bit to the end. Yes pop pickers here is this months run down on the lovelies in this ever so politically correct publication, well it is! Apart from Martine McCutcheon, Kate Hudson, Jasmine Lowson, the “Its Your Girlfriend” bit, the “FHM Student of the year” bit, there is hardly a scantily dressed lady to be seen! There are a few tasteful adverts but that’s advertising and does not count. ~~ FHM A light, intoxicating rest from the mad fast world we live in, can I have another coffee and cream bun please?
