FutureMusic is a high quality music technology magazine. Released monthly and costing £5.99 you get 130 pages of reviews, news, technique featurettes and a cd with usually several hundred royalty free samples, some videos of interviews with celebrities and the sounds made with products from the reviews. It has recently had a face-lift, with smoother fonts and images that seem easier on the eye than before. Another new feature is the inclusion on the cd of 10 of the best reader demos that were sent in that month which can get an up and coming artist some serious exposure to media professionals. The demos that don't make it on to the cd still get their own mini review. I ...

Want to make electronic music? Not sure how? This magazine will certainly help. Costing around £5 a month its not that cheap but you do get a cover mounted CD with reader's demos, normally a commercial track and demos of the latest gear (Synths, Samplers, DJ equipment, etc). The magazine does not go into as much depth as Sound on Sound but that can be a good thing if you are a newcomer. Featured regulars include, Artist Studio interviews, how to do tutorials and most importantly which gear is good and which is not. It's easy to digest and you won't have to keep diving for the glossary every five minutes. Buy it once and you may be hooked. ...

Bristol Evening Post
The Evening Post often lends its weight to local causes, has a carefully targeted distribution policy that sees each reader getting the news most relevant to them, whilst still covering the news at a national level, and runs regular supplements.
The paper can be a little over-dramatic, and is apt to go beyond providing the news by suggesting what the reader should think of it too. It also had the carelessness to let Jeremy Smith go wandering off to pastures new – a tragedy!
