Gaming magazines are great for people that own or would like to own a computer games console, PC etc.. Most of them tell you information about the latest games and technology which can be used with the console in particular. They give you reviews about the games and previews of games which are eagerly awaiting to be released.
I think that many of the reviewers are fair, although i do know some magazines which have known to be bias towards the console which there magazine is for e.g. ONM (official Nintendo magazine).
All of the games magazines use snapshots of games to give you a preview of what the game looks like, if it's a graphical achievement. Most of the time there's also a letters page for anyone that would like to write in and give info about experiances of games and hints and tips.
I would tell anyone who is interested in getting a games magazine to have a look at the magazine in the shop before you buy it. This is because sometimes a magazine might be a bit rubbish and not what you expect even though it's usually good. I would advise you not to go into a subscription, you may get it cheaper in the long run, but then there would be issues which you may not read because they are rubbish.
