Advantages: Well Set Out, Helpful For Gay People

Disadvantages: Quite A Few Adverts, Slightly Male Orientated

The first time I bought a copy of the Gay Times was when I was 16. I had it sent by mail order as basically I couldn't buy it in public incase someone I met saw me buying it.

The cover of the Gay Times usually having someone who is usually shirtless didn't really help in me trying to buy it because I was very embarrassed about what would be in it. From what I?d heard of it I thought it was going to be very political but that wasn't what I found.

When I first opened the Gay Times I was greeted with a large list of sections in the magazine, and I was quite surprised. The magazine contains a large variety of reports which are different every week. Examples of this include Gay domestic violence and the views of young people and old people in the Gay community.

The reports are written out very well in a professional way which doesn't have any of the trashy traits which you might find for instance in The Sun.

The magazine contains a lot of very big good glossy pictures to aid the magazine and none of the pictures that I ever saw contained full fledged nudity which is good because it enables shops to sell the magazine to people who are young and are trying to come to terms with their sexuality.

In my opinion the magazine although it is supposed to be aimed at all the sections of the Gay community I think that is mainly aimed at men more but a lot of the news stories are relevant t anyone wether they Gay or Straight.

The main feature which I thought was very good at the back was the Gay scene and the youth club listings. The Gay scene listings I think are very good because sometimes you don't know where to go to meet other Gay people.

The Youth groups and support lines I think are the most important. This section lists every group in the UK that people who of various ages can visit if they need help or they just want to make more Gay friends.

I would recommend this magazine
to anyone, if you have come to terms with being Gay it is a interesting read and if you are coming to terms with you're sexuality it helps because it shows many aspects of being Gay and the youth groups section at the back helps.

Summary:
