Best mag for a train journey
Member Name: abyznw
Advantages: Great price and it has a bit of everything.
Disadvantages: It can be a bit patronizing.
Glamour magazine is probably the best value for money among high-street magazines - it is twice as thick and half the price at £2. I think of Glamour as an 'all-rounder' - it has a bit of everything, and whereas my friends hate borrowing Elle and Vogue (apparently they are 'boring'), Glamour is liked all round. It has a combination of real-life stories, fashion shoots, celebrity interviews, horoscopes, food recipes and film, book and music reviews, which are all in bite size chunks, add this to its petite size, it makes the perfect accompaniment for a long train journey. The fashion is always fresh, and unlike in Vogue, it is almost always affordable, and the magazine often has offers such as 10% off at Topshop and Faith. The only problem I have with Glamour is that sometimes it patronizes the reader - things like 'How attractive are you' quizzes and articles on 'How to get a man to propose' (no joke) articles means that sometimes this can get a bit frustrating to read.
Summary: A good all-rounder magazine.
