Advantages: good size, good reading, lots of hints and tips

Disadvantages: Still contains a fair bit of advertising

I must admit that when the prices for oil, petrol and food all started escalating a few months ago newspapers, magazines and shop bought sandwiches were the three items I chose to cut down on to make up some of the price difference.

I had a subscription to Glamour magazine for a number of years before my cost cutting exercise kicked in, as I found it had less adverts and more good articles than most of the other fashion magazines, and I am not a fan of the Jerry Springer type magazines eg. Closer etc. with their stories such as "My sister stole my husband", "One of five men could be the father of my child" etc.

I was tempted back to Glamour as a one off this month as the magazine which gives a couple of hours of good reading had a free nails inc. Nail varnish worth £10.50 attached with your choice of four shades. Always one for a bargain I decided it would actually save me money to buy this, yes I know I can talk myself into an ything when I want it.

Glamour is a glossy mainly fashion and beauty orientated magazine, its more compact than Company, Vogue etc. and so its easy to carry around or put in your bag for commuting, waiting rooms etc. The usual monthly articles included in this magazine are:-

Letters page
Fashion, Christmas, gifts etc. do's and don'ts
Lots of sex tips
Problem page
Health Headlines
Your stars
Celebrity relationships

This months edition had articles on:

Josef Fritzl - re-hash of what's already known

Leona Lewis on babies her body and Beckham - good read and pictures covering several pages

Somalian refugee to supermodel - very good read, several pages long

The credit crunch - Meeting the bankers and city wives whose lives have been devastated by redundancy. Sorry its still hard to feel sorry for them.

Interview with Paul O'Grady - relationship secrets about the men and women in his past

Britains secret plot to make you binge drink - a little worrying but a well researched piece

Interview with James Corden (Gavin & Stacey show, great picture of him recreating Beckhams underwear poster)

Stress and how to cope with it

A new version of shag\marry\kill called - Would you rather, such wonderful musings as would you rather he was perma tanned or whiter shade of pale, would you rather find he had a pencil or a mushroom, would you rather he dressed up as a fireman or a policeman (75% voted for policeman for your info). Not exactly mentally stimulating but a fun filled few minutes when you have time to kill.

And much more.

There was a card inside inviting me to subscribe to Glamour on a monthly basis for £1.00 per month for six months with a £26.00 KMS haircare set thrown in for setting it up. Lets see how I'm going to talk myself out of re-subscribing as I get more than my subscription money back in goods and still get the magazine delivered every month.

Of all the glossy magazines out there I find this to be the best value, full of the newest innovations in beauty and always showing the most uptodate fashion with a nice mix of humour and sex, what more could a girl ask for.

If you have ever thought about trying it then rush out and buy it now while you get the full size bottle of nail inc nail varnish and a 400 page magazine for the amazing price of £2.00.

Summary: Probably the best value buy in this type of magazine

It's amazing how many dooyoo'ers have got Glamour this month on the strength of the Nails Inc varnish - myself included! I may actually get another copy for a different shade! :-) xx

Ooh that credit crunch article really wound me up! "Oh, poor me, now I have to shop in Zara instead of Prada" boohoo for you! What about the normal people?!!
