A good read (GQ)
Member Name: gpollock
Advantages: Plenty of content Disadvantages: Too many adverts Since the last reviews for GQ seem to have been written about nine years ago it seems the right time to provide a more up to date one! I've been a GQ reader for the past few years now and on the whole I think it's pretty good. It generally caters for the slighly older man (when I say that I mean about late twenties to early fifties) and it is a much classier and more sophisticated magazine than some of it's competitors. There are normally some interesting articles on current affairs, interviews with celebs such as a famous actor or sports star along with regular features such as book, film or restaurant reviews, fashion advice, gadgets, cars and Jokes. There is generally quite a lot of content each month, though I would have to say that a negative point for me is the excessive amount of advertising! The first 20 pages are normally filled with adverts from some clothing range and various types of aftershave. The free aftershave samples are sometimes quite useful but the majority of the adverts could do with being cut back a bit. The magazine would probably be about half the size without them! I don't buy the magazine every month but I always enjoy it when I do buy it and there's always enough interesting stuff in it to keep me going a good while! Summary: Plenty of good content for the more sophisticated male |
