Advantages: celeb gossip, funny
Disadvantages: too many ads
I read at least 2 out of 4 issues of Heat so I thought I'd review it to share my experience with you all.
About Heat
Heat was launched in February 1999. When launched it was more of a womans health and fashion mag and it wasn't a big hit at all. The publishers stuck with it and kept updating and altering the magazine , it then became more of a celeb gossip mag while still keeping the beauty and fashion articles but they also gave it the added bonus of a sense of humour. Now although it is still essentially a woman's mag, it appeals to a wide audience, both male and female, from teens to whenever (well my mother in law reads it and shes in her 50's). Lately Heat's format seems to being copied by loads of new mags that seem to be popping up these days.
Regular Feature's
Everyone's Talking About - A short paragraph by one of the mag's writers telling us what the nation's main talking point of the week is.
Where's Roy & Kel? - Gives readers the opportunity to find Roy and Kel somewhere in the mag so they can win a Roy & Kel mug.
Your Emails Letters - Comments from the readers including Email of the week.
Staff List with This week's burning question - Basically this is just the list of staff but they've all been asked the dame question and it has their answer printed next to their job title and name.
Fast Gossip - All the latest from celebville incorporating LA Confidential which is news from over the pond.
Love & Stuff - Latest on celeb relationships including the On/OFF relationships
The Week In Pictures _ Pics of celebs with brief paragraphs telling us what the celebs were doing at the time.
Torso Of The Week - A male hot bod, all sorts of people have put in apperance here including Tony Blair!
Then we come to the Celebs uncensored part of the mag this includes:
What were you thinking - Pics of 5 badly dressed celebs , there is always a full page pic of the worst
Circle Of Shame - Close up pics of dodgy celeb anatomy, sweat patches and spillages. NICE!
Dodgy Old Photo - An embarassing old photo of a celeb,
Fashion Disasters- This features one star and a few of their worst ever fashion mistakes with a trophy for the worst ever.
Star Style includes:
This week On The High Street - a pick of the best buys from high street stores
Trend Alert - in forms readers of the next big thing in fashion.
The Barometer - a lowdown of what's hot and what's not
Find it - Readers write in asking where they can get an item of clothing or an accessory that they've seen a celeb wearing, Heat finds it or one almost exactly like it.
Changing Style- features one celeb and shows us how much they've changed using various pictures from over the years.
This Week's Best Dressed- Various stars scrubbed up well.
Steal Her Style- Take one star and shoe readers how to get that look, where to get it from and how much it costs.
Spotted: Where the stars been spotted and what they were doing at the time.
Celeb Interviews - This is usually hilarious and accompanied by an equally hilarious photoshoot getting the celebs to do something daft.
Film Reviews - This usually features 3 film reviews , a longer one on the film of the moment and 2 shorter reviews, then there is a top ten of the latest films.
Music Reviews - 2 album reviews and 5 single reviews
DVD Reviews - 2 reviews of the latest releases and a top ten of DVD's.
Book Reviews- 2 reviews one fiction and one non-fiction and a top ten of the latest books.

10 Questions We Ask Everyone - same 10 questions everyweek
Other Stuff
If that's not enough there are plenty of other features which vary each week. While Big Brother is on Dermot O'Leary has a column and there is usually and interview with the latest evictee. Heat often does features on Celebs looking rough, 'Celebs They're Just Like Us', or worst celeb beach bodies, which are great for making me feel better about myself.
My Faves
I adore Spotted, I don't why maybe I'm just nosey, I especially like Top spot and Crap spot and very much enjoyed 'Where's Winehouse?' ( a special Amy Winehouse spot) but they've stopped doing that at the mo due to her problems. I Readers letters and emails and always a treat, there are none so funny as the Great British public. Ring of shame is usually a great laugh and I enjoy all reviews, in fact if Heat recommends a book I'm very likely to buy it. i love the TV goss and I'm a bit sad so I always read ahead for the week to find out what's going to happen on the soaps. I love the celeb photoshoots it's great to see stars acting the goat my very best one is when David Walliams and Matt Lucas dressed up as Peter Andre and Katie Price on their wedding day and Kinga and Eugene as Dr Who and Rose Tyler was uncanny.
The Pictures
Are always glossy and usually contain an amusing caption or speech bubble.
The Bad Stuff
There is far too much advertising in this mag and now they've even started doing those advertising features, which is made to look like and article but just harps on about a particular product all the time. Secondly (and this isn't just for Heat this goes for all mags), there is never any mention of Neighbours, it's quality TV so should get a mention somewhere. Finally I think Heat needs to do more research into who reads their mag, a lot of the clothes and make up featured are well out most peoples price range (for instance Chanel ankle boots at £450), now that's just teasing us. Lately I've fallen out with the mag a bit due to the fact that one minute it'll tell us which celebs are too skinny and the next slag of Britney Spears for not being slime enough at her latest performance (I think she looks great for a mum of 2 kids)
Website
Heat has only launched their website this year but it'sgeat apart from everything that's in the mag, there are video clips and it's updated every hour between 9am and 5pm.

Price
£1.65
3.30 euros
Weekly
Overall
I'd recommend Heat, it's got something for everyone. All these other mags popping up are just pale imitations.
Buy It You'll probably like it.
