If, like me, you are a dedicated follower of all things hip and hop, you'll probably notice that your culture while interesting an not the norm, does miss out on some benefits of being mainstream. Dilemma: you're bored, you have nothing to read, and you have no clue whats up in the world of hip hop. Danger: no! Get away from the Woman's Own - its not worth it! SOLUTION: Hip Hop Connections. I only found this island of salvation a few months ago, and being a weekly magazine that means Ive read a grand total of maybe 4. However thats been long enough to realise They Know What Is What(*69-Fatboy Slim). HHC runs reviews on hip ... Read the complete review

If your a true Hip-Hop fan, you need to buy this magazine. I've been reading and buying this magazine for over 9 years. This magazine was started in the late 80's, and has been through many changes. Although, not as good as it used to be, it still is one of the best Hip-Hop magazines on the shelf. The contents of pictures, text and adverts are spread out evenly. There are some good reviewers who know what they're on about, but you get a few who don't have a clue. They mostly cover Underground/Independent Hip-Hop from the US & UK, which are artists like-Dialated Peoples, Common, DITC, NextMen, High & Mighty, Mark B/Blade, Taskforce etc. Although, ... I used to buy every single edition of this great mag. HHC was and, to some extent still is my sole source for insight in to the latest goings-on in HipHop culture. I feel that, today, with the glossy covers and caver images of current Pop-rap and RnB stars, HCC has either had an editorial clerout or is making a bit to increase flagging sales. Sure, most people would associate these celebs with 'HipHop' scene, I for one don't. RnB and popRap (Eminem etc) should be consigned to magazines that deal with this specific genre. I know that many of these artists claim to be HipHoppers but the truth is, that they've only had their roots in HipHop, or ... Read the complete review

I have only just got into reading this magazine because i did not actually know it existed. So when i saw it on the shelf just had to buy it. The first thing that you notice is that the price is really low considering it is a specialist magazine which iwas happy with. The first thing you see in the magazine is the section where the show the artists while they are out and about. In the magazine there are a few features in it that you see in it every issue which are reviews on the latest singles that are coming out which is good if you are looking out for a particular song and you want a review. You also get at least 2 interviews in the magazine with people who ... Read the complete review

I have been buying this magazine for several months and it took me a long time to realise why I kept purchasing it. I do not agree with its assesments of many artists - although most of its reccomendations are completely on point and many of its articles are on UK hip-hoppers I have never heard of. What Hip-Hop Connection does provide is a view of the Hip-Hop scene that magazines such as The Source (good though it is) will never provide. In what other magazine would you find an article comparing the chances of Dr. Dre, Puff Daddy and Missy Elliot to die (and how they would die), an article completely rogering Richard Blackwood's credibility and a letters page ...
