Among the plethora of magazines which can show you wonderful homes there are few that seem to have their feet placed on the firm wood flooring they all seem to recommend. All too often the rooms have been transformed not so much by good ideas as by good money. Frankly if we all had that much money all our houses would look that good. Well, probably no. There are other ingredients needed to improve your home. Time is one obviously but there is little that can be done about the number of hours in a day. I buy this magazine regularly and being a bit of an addict to home decorating and DIY and a special fan of MDF (the dreaded stuff!) I find this a goldmine for ideas and inspiration. Many of the makeovers and ideas are ones that actually do inspire me to have to have a go, they have projects in there which I would enthusiastically tackle and all in all, its a pleasure to sit down and read, although when I do I know that before I finish it I will be planning my next job! One thing this magazine doesnt suffer from is sticking to expensive house, expensive makeovers and just being an expensive waste of time. A definite 'must-have' mag. ...

This magazine is glossy, the front cover is always very appealing and the style it promotes is easy, affordable and modern. I wouldn't say it appeals particularly to the younger home owner (I am 40 and find the style ideas great) but you don't often find sumptuous or staid homes featured. Everything is light and bright. The cover states "265 beautiful budget ideas for Summer living" this time. The emphasis is on ideas, hence Homes and Ideas What is great about this magazine, is that they give you loads of ideas for your own house.
