Advantages: Keeps you up-to-date every week, and has a great website

Disadvantages: a little expensive

I was first introduced to the magazine a few years ago by a friend, and since then it has become my alternative newspaper for everything horsey. The magazine includes news, features on famous riders, horses and events, information about the latest in veterinary knowledge and care, hunt, racing, dressage and other competition diaries, advertisements for everything from feed supplements to trailers, and of course the equine classifieds, which is usually my first port of call! At £2.30 per issue, it can be a bit pricey to buy every week, although they do offer a discount for subscriptions. I tend to buy it every other week, depending on what articles are included.
The articles themselves are well written, and not at all patronising in the way some other equine magazines can be. I always find the subject to be absorbing and relevant, because the magazine is weekly rather than monthly and can tackle current issues more quickly.
I also like the fact that the magazine is partnered with a website which has a thriving online community in the form of a moderated forum, which is friendly and willing to answer any questions or worries you may have. The website also offers an archive of articles which have appeared in the magazine, in addition to purpose-written articles of its own. While the magazine can deal with recent issues regularly, the website allows for up-to-the-minute discussion and review of everything offered within the magazine
Finally, in my own personal experience and that of my friends, I've found the magazine to be second to none when buying and selling horses. This is because the magazine is a national publication and not only do the horses get advertised in the magazine, but also on the website. Horse & Hound also try to make sure that none of these advertisements are fraudulent or misleading, making it safer to buy and sell with them.
