My House Beautiful! (House Beautiful)
Member Name: AliB
Advantages: Plenty of ideas to make your house beautiful Disadvantages: None
Having recently bought my own home I'm keen to get it looking exactly how I want, with my own personal touches, so, for ideas, I went out and bought a few interior design/home decoration magazines. One of which was House Beautiful, and I have to say it was one of the best. The price was pretty reasonable for this type of magazine (£2.10) and it's packed full of ideas from whole rooms to the little tiny objects that fill them. All items featured have excellent photographs, the price and where you can purchase them. And they all seem to be fairly reasonable which is quite refreshing! But it's not just filled with endless pictures of rooms and cushions and ornaments, there are stories of people's unusual homes, their endeavours to get them looking how they want, and even celebrities and their DIY tales. The magazine begins with a word from the editor, and the contents page is well organized - if you're looking for something in particular it's easy to find. There's a calendar for whichever month's issue you have bought with relevant hints and tips, guided by the weather and when and where events are taking place. There's a property and finance section, DIY hints and tips (straightforward and manageable), and it ventures into the garden as well. There's even a food news section! There's quite a bit of advertising in there but it's all pretty relevant and some actually rather useful. They give away free gifts, there's often a money off coupon, and there's usually a few competitions to enter. The magazine ends with a useful stockists and suppliers list (oh, and the ever present star signs!) Summary: |
