I have read Inside Soap for as long as I can remember in my short years of 100.
I am one of those lovely people who NEEDS to know before even the scriptwriters what is going on, I need to get inside the producers head.
Yes, it contains spoilers, that's what I'm hoping for!
Before the internet craze and Digital spies of this world, the magazine was chock-a-block full of secrets, gossips and interviews and the magazine was well worth the read. You could honestly sit for a good couple of days and read through every page, shocked at what was going to happen but now my poor heart is breaking, the magazine I am very sad to say is losing out to the internet.
They haven't been able to market themselves in a new way or keep up with the changes and they now keep hiking the price up and the magazine is getting smaller, with is now pushing my limits as a loyal customer of the magazine.
The magazine focuses on the current storyline's and try to create the suspense of future storylines, but before it hits the shelf, somewhere on the world wide web the story has already been reported. Not even the site can put the word out there first, which is such a shame as they should be kicking the competitions in all the right places.
The magazine like I mentioned has fewer pages and now the bulk of the magazine is made up of a lame TV guide and reviews, even that section is poor in reflection to the amount of channels out there, it looks and appears quite dated and they have changed the format a few times but nothing, for me as a reader, is clicking.
The reviews are not that great either, I'd prefer to listen to Sharon Marshall on This Morning, she knows how to sell a storyline or two.
You have a few pictures of the soap stars/ celebrities hitting the party scene, what they are wearing. where they brought it from, which I could not care a less about, I want ALL the secrets!
They have a good interview every so often with the producers that may suggest up and coming storylines that are yet not online, but somewhere out there someone knows more than Inside Soap.
I think they could give more space to morning soaps like Doctors and the late ones like Casualty and Holby city.
Its such a shame because they clearly have a loyal readership, great ties with each soap, host a respected awards evening so you would think they would be at the forefront of delivering interviews, news and the way the soaps are changing and trying now to increase viewers.
I'd love to read not just about the secrets but behind the scenes, who keep the ball rolling, the scriptwriters, the directors, even interview past characters etc.
The magazine is very witty and the back page has short reflections on the week of soap and its quite funny but I want more! This should not be my favorite page, that's wrong.
My week would not be the same without my Tuesday serving of all the latest soap and television gossip! Inside Soap is a handy, 100 page (approximately), television guide and magazine in one. It is reasonably priced at £1.60 and is widely available from most supermarkets, newsagents etc.
I absolutely love to watch television soap operas but as a busy mum of three it is inevitable I will miss whole or partial episodes here and there. Inside Soap allows me to keep in touch with all the action and to catch up on any major news I may have missed.
The cover is bright and enticing with lots of "teasers" to get your attention. The over all layout is simple and appealing, with lots of articles in words and pictures. The magazine seems to be able to get all the latest information, some of it exclusively.
The seven day television guide, which is included, is clear, concise and very useful. It also includes a very wide range of channels.
The magazine hosts several regular features at the back. These include a fun, double page puzzle section, short book, film and dvd reviews, a readers' letters section and horoscopes.
'''INSIDE SOAP MAGAZINE'''
PLEASE NOTE: Inside Soap magazine has changed a LOT from the picture above. Also note: I haven't got the latest issue but the 2nd latest issue.
Some of you might know how I love soaps & love to find out the latest big soap rumour. Usually I buy the TV Times & AOL gives me the latest plot news from Eastenders, corrie & Emmerdale etc. but on my latest holiday I needed something to read...
Usually when I get a magazine I would buy almost any, fortnightly All About Soap has been my preferred favourite for months now, aswell as Soaplife. My main issue with All About Soap is though it dose'nt have a tv guide, & it dose'nt talk about dramas like Waterloo Road etc. Inside Soap is different from this because it has it all...
Inside Soap was launched in October 1992 as a monthly soap magazine with a tv guide. In 1995, it went fortnightly, & was priced the same. Then, in, September 2003, it went weekly, priced a little higher.
As you can probably see above Inside Soap has the logo, but now it runs all the way across 1/4 way down. The date is supplied above the logo aswell as the words '''with 7-day tv guide!''' plus the price (£1.50) is located at the bottom. Above the Inside Soap logo 2 small(ish) soap story plots are given away with one big soap story or latest soap rumour news plastered across the main cover of the magazine. 4 other soap stories are also pasted on the cover around the side & bottom.
On the first page of the magazine you get a welcome by the editor (Steven Murphy) plus an email to contract him (email@example.com) Soap stories are placed under the soap headiing with the page they are on, plus the dramas & the tv guide too. Pictures from some soaps are included too.
'''WHATT INSIDE SOAP INCLUDES'''
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN?
The main bit of the magazine (before the soap diary) about what happens in the soap & stories of that week. 2 pages of the main plots are included with 1 to 1/2 pages for the small plots/stories. Latest news/plots is included in this bit too.
'''WHAT HAPPENS WHEN?'''
7 day guide to the soaps plus pictures to show what will happen and questions to buzz your mind with left wondering whats going to happen. Plus, a sneak peek at next week is included too.
'''THE BIG INTERVIEW'''
Usually an interview with 3 stars from each soap with up to 3 pages per interview. This keeps you busy for a long time & you also find out how the star feels about the storyline/plot too.
8 pages of gossip from the soap stars (like Inside Soap sees them & takes pictures & posts them in the magazine. The stars answer your questions is included too with a catch up with.. put in aswell. Beauty box is added too, with a star added & which make up or clothes they wear, plus, where you can buy the stuff from.
A 7-day tv guide with 4 pages of terrestrial & satellite listings (all colour coded) A pick of the week is included too.
2 pages of crosswords, arrowords, sudoku & soap star links, with the solutions for the last issue of puzzles, how to enter is placed at the bottom.
Letters sent in by soap fans & requests are included too, if you want to send a message, their are 3 ways. All are stated in the magazine.
1 page on what the soaps have been on about this week, with also 5 things we did'nt know last week about soap stars.
In my opinion this is worth £1.50, but I still don't know how they manage to pad this out every week! It is fun & easy to read plus it tells you all you need to know about soaps & tv.
Thanks for reading!
Being a bit of a soap addict, another of my night time magazines is 'inside soap'. This can be picked up in large and small supermarkets, WH Smith and most newsagents and RRPs at around £1.50.
When I first picked this up, I thought that £1.50 was a little expensive for a TV guide when you can pick others up for 40p-50p but it was the only one where the cover story was 'kat gets her baby back' so I couldn't resist it!
Once I started reading it, I realised that this wasn't your average TV guide. Okay, it has your usual 7 day TV guide and all of this weeks stories, but it also had gossip on stories that are going to feature later in the year. (Just incase you're interested, kat doesn't get her baby back until May!)
As well as all of your latest soap news, this magazines had pages full of puzzles, letters from readers and interviews with soapstars. All of this is enough to charge £1.50 for and makes for a magazine that keeps you reading for longer than 10 minutes, unlike other TV mags.
Inside soap is a weekly magazine and I cant help but wonder how they manage to pad it out every week? Fair enough they have all of this weeks stories but how many 'exclusives' of future features can they pick up in one week? But the magazine never seems to thin out over the weeks so maybe I'm just over looking some less exciting storylines. This makes me realise how many different stories these soaps have going on at one time!
If you follow more than one soap, I would definately recommend picking this up as it fills you in on all of the gossip. I would also recommend it if you are one of those people who just read the TV guide and don't bother watching the programmes (I have to admit it, I used to do this!). However, if you only follow one soap, and especially if this is not Eastenders Emmerdale or Coronation Street, this magazine will not be worth the price tag to you.
Finally, this is another magazine that is limited in advertisements which earns it a big thumbs up from me!
I'm a bit of a soap junkie and when i'm not watching soaps, I absolutely love reading about them!
I have read read most of the soap magazines, and to be honest they're all of a similar standard so I wouldn't worry too much if I couldn't get this magazine one week and had to get another!
The biggest thing in Inside Soap is the behind the scenes gossip and pictures and news on what is coming up in your face soap(s). Now I know that some people don't like to know what is going to happen and they like to watch the story unfold and be a surprise but I'm not one of these people! If you ARE one of these people I probably wouldn't recommend this magazine or any of the others available. But if like me you like to know what is going to happen before it happens, you will love it!
Inside Soap also has lots of interviews with soap stars which can be quite interesting if you're interested in learning more about the actors behind our favourite characters, and there is also a letters page, competitions and TV guide so you can plan when you're going to watch all your soaps!
All the UK big soaps are featured (Corrie, Enders, Emmerdale & Hollyoaks) as well as the Australian soaps (Neighbours and Home & Away) and drams such as Doctors and Holby City which I wouldn't necessarily call soaps but who cares!
If you love watching soaps and don't mind knowing what is going to happen, you'll love Inside Soap. It's great on a train journey too!
I'm a big fan of inside soap, and have been for a number of years. The format has changed considerably over that time, but always for the better.
Although I do read the other soap magazines on the market, Inside Soap tends to go more into depth with their stories and interviews. The stories on the front cover are always true, where I find with the other magazines they are mereley suggestions of what 'might' happen in the soaps.
The disadvantage to Inside Soap is that Soaplife and All about Soap contain two-weeks worth of stories for a similar price, whereas Inside Soap contains just one. It retails for £1.45 and normally arrives in shops on an Tuesday Morning. The magazine contains just under 100 pages.
Inside soaps format is easy to use as all the soaps and dramas it contains are written at the front inorder. It contains stories about 'The Bill' etc-which other magazines don't include very often.
I like being able to do the crossword-which is also all about soaps and dramas. My favourite parts of the magazine are 'What Happens When?' so that you can get a sneak preview of the week ahead, and 'Soapbox' which contains funny comments and letters people have written.
I think Inside Soap is good value for money as I get more read out of it than the other soap magazines. There are also a lot more interviews with producers, and behind the scenes stories.
Well firstly Inside Soap has changed a lot since the photo for it was added. First off it has a new glossy magazine look and secondly it is no longer a fortnightly but a weekly. It has a cover price of £1.40 per issue but can also be purchased through a subscription for as little as 99p an issue.
The magazine is packed full of soap gossip and news having several articles and then a weekly breakdown for each soap. Something which I find really helpful for quick catch ups.
Another reason I love Inside Soap is they have several competitions. They give away everything from cd's, books and DVD's which can be entered via a text message or a postcard as well as a crossword and arrow word which have cash prizes of £150 and £100 and these can be entered via email or post.
Superb value for £1.40! A brilliant read and I can't wait for Tuesday's so I can get my newest copy.
I have been reading this magazine for a few years now. As a big soap fan, I love it. I look forward to my bath every night, when I get to read it. Pure bliss. It is a fun-filled magazine and you can buy an annual subscription with Tesco Clubcard Vouchers - a bonus and a half! It not only covers upcoming storylines, but has great interviews with the actors, and lots of gossip. It is also a weekly TV guide, so saves me money on buying an additional TV guide each week. If you are a soap fan (and I certainly don't watch all of them - where would the time be to do that?), it is a great read, although you do tend to know what is coming up each week, so if you don't like spoilers then probably not for you. My bath time would just not be the same without Inside Soap!
Inside soap is the weekly must have for me to enable me to keep up to date with all the soaps and to know what is going to happen.
It has all the latest gossip about all the soaps on television such as Eastenders, Corrie, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks.and even the aussie ones such as Home and Away and Neighbours.
It also has the latest storylines about tv dramas such as Casualty, Holby City, The bill and Doctors.
It comes out every week on a Tuesday and is priced at £1.40.
As soon as you look on the cover of the magazine you will find the headlines to the latest soap secrets, These are easy to see and with very bold print so that this will instantly make you want to look inside to find out more.
When you open you copy of Inside soap you will see the editor, Steven Murphy, has written a little bit of what is in the magazine this week with a picture of himself and an email address to contact him!
By the side of that each soap in listed individually and underneath each of these headings is the sub headings of the storylines and the page number it will be on!!
It also has regulars which are:
Inside gossip. This is a 2 page spread with your favourite stars pictured out and about doing their own thing and a little bit of what they were doing when these pictures were taken!
7 Days. This is a guide of entertainment for 7 days, the latest theatre show, the latest dvd out, music album and what you could see on the cinema and in the middle box there is a star of a soap that is called My Favourite and this week its My Favourite.. Live Gig!!
Puzzles. This is a 2 page spread of puzzles to win prizes, one page is the crossword and the questions are all about tv shows, characters ect all that are mentioned in Inside Soap, you can win £150. On the other page there is the Prize Arroword which has a £100 prize and Sudoku and Soapstar Links which are just for fun. Although I`ve never won from Inside Soap.. someone has to so I`ll keep trying!
Soap Box. This is one of my favourites. Its a 2 page spread in which people write in and give their views on the lastest action from the soaps! For every letter and comment they publish you get £10! Also in the soapbox section of the magazine they have Request Spot which is any questions or queries answered. Your Verdict is also on this page and Inside Soap ask the readers questions comparing soaps, such as which soap club do you think is best, which soap hunk.. that kind of thing!
Stars. Your weekly stars, these are predicted by Inside Soap astrologer Jane Dimond.
Inside.. out! This is the final page of the magazine and has the fun stuff that made us laugh in the soaps this week. Also 5 things we didnt know last week about characters in the soaps!
It also has interviews with the stars and a brilliant page called At Your Mercy! where readers can ask the questions for the interview and 3 stars who they are hoping to speak to over the coming weeks so you can send any questions to them.
You can contact Inside soap by email, by post or on facebook.
This is one magazine I would definatly recommend buying, its packed full of so much gossip, stories and interviews, its a must read for me!!
Thanks for reading. Kim xxx
If you're into your soaps such as Eastenders Coronation Steet and all the other usuals and you can'tjust watch the programmes to find out what happens then this is the magazine you need to purchase to always find out more.
I have only brought this magazine a few times when i have read the front cover and been tempted to what happens on a particular story line like Eastenders. It comes out weekly and it costs £1.20. It is jam packed full about your favourite soaps and even has interviews with a different celebrity each week.
I know these are what i call "spoiler" magazines but when i do get into a storyline that's really good especially if it happens in Eastenders then i do buy it.
It tells you what not to miss for each soap and it even has a seven day tv guide in it. You get the opportunity to email questions to this magazine for interviews with the stars and one other bit i do find interesting is the section for what soap stars wear and how you can get a look like them for a fraction of the price.
So if you are impatient and want to know what's gonna happen in your favourite soap then i do recommend that you buy this magazine.
They also have a website www.insidesoap.co.uk and although you can't read what they have in their magazine you can join in and have your view on topics that's in the soaps.
ok,I admit it.I am a soap freak.
I watch a few of them...Eastenders,Coronation steet and Emmerdale. This magazine is very handy for reading whats coming up soon.Though some people does'nt want to know.I on the other hand can't wait to read the plots.

I just love soaps - not all of them, in fact there are so many today that I have never seen or indeed heard of. It is due to Britains love of soap operas that there are now several magazines dedicated purely to this ever growing army of soap fanatics. Inside Soap is just one of these magazines, I believe it was the first magazine to totally dedicate itself to soaps. I first stumbled upon a copy in the Doctors waiting room and have been a fan ever since. Inside Soap comes out once a fortnight on a Tuesday. It costs £1.30 and this is what you get for your money. The magazine is fresh and bright and the front cover normally features a picture and headline of a future storyline in one of the most popular soaps, ie Eastenders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street or Brookside. The issue which I have based this review on is Issue 204 and covers the fortnight ending 10th May 2002. The cover story features Sonia, Dot and Chloe from Eastenders and the headline is SNATCHED! In small print underneath the headline continues 'a desperate Sonia kidnaps Chloe - can Dot stop her before it's too late?' Intrigued soap fans are sure to want to know more and these cover stories must help to sell thousands of copies of this magazine. ** FEATURES ** There are various feature stories and these treat the reader to a hint of future storylines such as the cover story. The current magazine has feature stories on Eastenders, Neighbours, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Home and Away and Hollyoaks. ** COMPETITIONS AND OFFERS ** The magazine always has competitions the prizes usually being soap or tv related. You can enter as many or as few competitions as you like and entry is by post. A popular competition is the Caption Competition - a scene from one of the soaps is printed and the funniest most original caption sent in to accompany it wins £20.00. ** REGULARS ** Regular items include a Que
stion and Answer page which is where a popular soap star is given questions about themselves to answer, the celebrity in the current issue is Michael Greco, (Beppe di Marco). Inside Info features snippets of information in relation to the various soaps and soap stars such as who is leaving, and brief snippets of information relating to the actors real lives. Also on these pages there is a small section dedicated to soap history which gives a brief outline to some of the popular storylines from 1 year, 5 years and 10 years ago. Soap Box is a selection of viewers letters about anything and everything - £30 is paid for the star letter and £10 for all other letters that are published. Within these pages there is a Looky-Likey feature which is where readers can send in photos of somebody they know who they think looks like a soap star and Snapped with a Star where readers send in their photographs of them with a soap star - if your photos are printed you win £20.00. ** 14 DAYS ** This section takes a look at the best of the other television programmes that are going to be on during the next 14 days. Also featured within 14 days is a daily brief summary of what is going to happen in the following soaps, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Neighbours, Brookside, Home and Away, Hollyoaks, Family Affairs, Crossroads and even the Archers. For all of you that hate soap operas I expect you have probably fallen asleep by now. However, if you are a true soap junkie this is a fantastic magazine and well worth a read - I always collect mine on the day it comes out and have read it within an hour or so of collecting it. Happy reading :o)
If you just can not tear yourself away from soaps then this is definitely the magazine for you! It has the episode guide to all the soaps you name one an it'll be there. From all the major soaps like Eastenders to the minor ones like Ally Mcbeal. If your like me and just simply cannot resist knowing what's going to happen then Inside Soap is for you. On the other hand, if you like to be kept sitting on the edge of your seats then don't look at it. Inside Soap has coverage on all the major storylines as well as the not so big ones. There is also a section on new video releases as well what's happening in showbiz land. For all the golden oldies there is a chance to reminicise the events that happened years ago. A section to view your comments and to win money and goodies is also included. Inside Soap provides something for the young ones as well as the adult generation so you just cannot resist buying it! Value for money, you get so much form only £1.10.
In my opinion this is the best tv magazine about I buy it every two weeks for £1.20 at my local newsagents and reas it from cover to cover. However I am a very impatient person I have to find out quickly what is about to happen next week in eastenders etc. So it is ideal for me as it tells you exactly what is going to happen. On the other hand if you enjoy watching soaps with the anticipation of what is going to happen next then do not read this magazine. It has detailed descriptions of what is going to happen in the soaps in the coming weeks and could spoil the programme. The magazine itself has a large section on the major stories of the week and then smaller summaries of each episode of the soaps. The soaps included are Hollyoakes, Brookside, Coranation street, eastenders, crossroads, and family affairs. Also desriptions of new programmes such as mersey beat, casualty, holby city and CSI are included. Apart from the episode guides a section called where are they now is included on past stars. Also a section on new video releases and pictures of stars out in premieres and awards etc are included. As well as readers letters and comments. A chance to win money and soap memerobilia is also offered sometimes in the magazine to give you more enjoyment. The magazine is targeted at teens to young adults however older people would find it enjoyable in my opinion. It is well worth a read.
