Advantages: Full-colour right through; paintings by people who know what they are doing!

Disadvantages: Nothing here for the absolute beginner, but inspirational publications are never a disadvantage to anyone at any stage of artwork

Pastel Artist International is a glorious full-colour gallery of pastel paintings from artists around the world. The presentation of this magazine, for the price, is quite outstanding....now 6 issues a year for just £14 and a generous (on average) 150 pages.
This isn't a "how to do it" publication, however. Each featured artist describes his or her work, it's conception, development and problems met along the way in execution. Technical matters, such as working
environment, support papers and boards, and pastel types, are certainly included; but I would say this magazine is more for the serious, reasonably experienced amateur and budding professional.The works included are inspirational to say the least and I would think only the most nit-picky of people could find major flaws in this magazine.

It is published in America and does therefore have a "slant", but prospective readers should not let this put them off. There are UK artists included in
every issue; and many of the art materials advertised are readily available in this country, or certainly can be ordered using the Internet.
