Advantages: An excellent teaching tool for all- saving when you subscribe
Disadvantages: Not enough problem solving - only kidding they are great
I have been buying this mag since January of this year and every issue has pointed something out to me that I always wanted to know! One of these questions you always want to ask but think it is stupid! The magazine is broken up into clearly defined parts and has features on all sorts of things, from wiping out world debt, best buys and loads of reviews on new sites. You are guided through the book by a family who all join in the fun of the internet, the highlight of this I think is to show that the internet is fun for everyone, Doris (mum) and Ted (dad) even get involved, Doris normally reviews the best shopping sites and parenting sites and how to protect her kids while on the net, where as Ted loves to visit sites that are to do with fast cars. The Kids (oldest first) are Suzie, Kev, Jimmy and Maisie who also have their favourite sites to visit and review, Suzie loves to review all the music sites so she can keep up to date on all her pop hero's, where as Kev loves to surf the computer games and software sites and tells us where the best free downloads for software and games are available and how reliable they are!! Little Jimmy is mad about Pokemon and keeps up to date with all their going ons by visiting the thousands of sites out there for Pokeman, then there's young Maisie only a kiddy but she knows what she likes, Winnie The Pooh, Disney and Doll's Houses, with the protection that Doris has set on the PC it is safe for Maisie to surf for these things as long as she likes, so that is the family and how they will help you, they are very friendly for every reader adult or child!! There is an excellent software CD on the cover every month with over 30 freeware or shareware programs or time trials, one of the best programs I used was the evaluation of Paint Shop Pro 6, which I proceeded to buy as it improved my websites 100% (see my review on this product - plug!!). But there are endless great programs and are norma
lly compatible with mac or windows a great bonus as the mag is only £1.99. One of the strongest features updated every month is the fight for Free Internet which they have supported since launch and keep you up to date with the most reliable one's available. Then there is the rant and rave section where you can write a rant or a rave review about what ever you like on the net or the magazine and if you are the best ranter or raver you get a prize, normally a book on the best way to use the net!! The best section I think in the book is the problems page, now hundreds of people must write in as these pages are jam packed every month and you will always find the solution to a problem you may be having because someone has asked it for you, a great little helper, never has a month passed where I have not thought "Oh that is how it is done!", it is easy to follow and they explain it very well. So that is Internet Advisor a must for the absolute beginner and an excellent reference guide for the seasoned pro, I am now in my 8 month of using this mag and get it delivered straight to my door, if you subscribe you get 12 issues for the price of 11 so even more saving.
