This is one of my favourite computer magazines, although I don’t subscribe I buy it regularly. I feel it has something for everyone...well almost.
It has:
A range of features which often deal with topical issues such as Popstars and Mothers Day. These are well written and informative. Links in the body of the articles take you to relevant sites. Also there is often a section of links relevant to an article at the end of the article which is useful.
Net news which covers news items covered on the internet as well as internet industry news.
Reviews of games sites and the latest games. Probably not enough for a hardened games addict!
Workshops for beginners and the more experienced. I have found some of their workshops on web design very useful as I have designed several web sites as a hobby. A recent workshop on spring cleaning your computer led me to spring clean mine, a task that was long overdue. Now I’ve set up the maintenance wizard as advised, to do it automatically. The workshop was well illustrated and easy to understand.
Top 10 web sites in 24 categories, yes I know you can use a search engine but some of these sites you didn't even know you wanted to look up! This is probably my favourite section as the sites they choose are relevant and good quality. It saves a lot of fruitless searching and I haven’t found a broken link yet… Some of the sites they recommend I’ve liked so much I’ve registered with them. I also like the fact that for the top three in each section they have a picture of the site so you can get a preview of it. They stick to the top ten sites in each category, which is a good idea, as I don’t like to plough through a long list of sites.
A big bonus is that unlike a lot of other magazines there are very few adverts. I find it frustrating when you pay for a magazine and it is full of adverts. Anyone else agree?
All in all a good all round
magazine, it proves itself to be more than a glossy directory of sites. Good value for the price.
