Disadvantages: none really
What’s on offer? Is it any good? Should I buy it? Here’s an Internet magazine that’s suitable to most Internet users… young, old, novice or expert. Internet Works takes a more serious view towards the Internet and tries to help you get the best out of the Internet. This is probably because the magazine was originally mainly targeted at business users, but the good old home user got in there as usual! I hope that my review will answer the questions at the top as I go along on my ramblings. With any luck you’ll end up with something of an understanding about Internet Works & will be able to make a decision about its suitability to your needs. What you get between the covers amounts to roughly 130 pages on average, nearly all of which are packed with useful information. There’s really something for everyone, so hopefully there’s something for you! Here’s a very quick run through of the basics of the magazines features. ~~ Bulletin ~~ All the latest news & reviews from around the globe to do with PCs, the Internet & the whole world of I.T. ~~ Competition ~~ You don’t need me to tell you what this is! All that I can say is to enter the competitions each month! ~~ What’s New? ~~ The latest, greatest & often most expensive new gadgets & gizmos to hit the market place. It could be software, hardware or both that’s on show. Some of the stuff is weird & some of the stuff is truly wonderful, but still rather interesting all the same. ~~ Faxback ~~ You chance to catch up on any articles that you missed in previous issues & would like to read. This is a rather handy feature but can be rather expensive to use. ~~ Letters ~~ What would any magazine be without the letters section? You get to learn & have a laugh at the same time when you read the letters. ~~ The Hit List ~~
r> A good review of shopping sites, which they try to update each month. Can be very useful if you shop online. ~~ The Works ~~ This section breaks down into further sub-sections, but I won’t go into them all. I’ll just mention of a couple of the better ones. ~~ Internet Law ~~ This is one of the most interesting sections by far! It’s amazing what you can find out about the law & the Internet. This is really devoted to readers sending in their questions on legal matters, domain names, shopping & the likes. You can send in a letter asking for help with a particular problem or just send in a query about something. A very useful section indeed! ~~ Q & A ~~ Basically your questions answered & your problems solved by the experts in the field. Another very handy feature. ~~ On the CD ~~ Here’s the usual place to find out about all the goodies that are crammed onto the cover CD. There’s always at least one fully featured free program on the disc, but sometimes there will be more! Other than the above sections, you will find a lot more to read & try out. Have a try at some of the workshops to see how well you do! I could write more, but won’t! I don’t want to totally bore you & besides … my one & only working pen is running out! (I always write my articles into a book before typing them into Word.) In all, Internet Works is a very good magazine that can & will teach ‘an old dog new tricks’! Anyone could, buy, read & use the magazine as it’s always written in ‘plain English’, which makes it very easy to understand. The cover discs always have some useful software on them & the magazine itself is just a great read. Before you rush out & part with your hard-earned cash … have a butchers at a copy in your local newsagents/bookshop. It saves time & money being waste
d! Thanks for reading & take care.

- 02/03/01 You write your ops in a book, then type them into word, then paste them into Dooyoo? Now *that's* keen! Good op, Pad. |
