kerrang, which currently retails for about £2.20 i think, is a weekly magazine dedicated to alternative music. Exactly what it classes as alternative is open to debate. originally focussing on metal, the magazine is now diversified to cover many types of rock and metal music. As someone with broad tastes i quite like this, but many original fans are not impressed.
it reviews albums, and what i like is it tells you 'for fans of....' for each review, which is a good way to discover new bands.
Rated gives you a chance to see reviews of different bands live and their support, and they always provide full coverage of festivals such as download and reading/leeds.
i also like reading the letters written by other readers, and the stimulants section is always fun for a quick peek, and you mustn't forget Pandora, the much loved cartoon strip every week! i loved work experience boy Wek!!

Summary: good general rock mag

I used to buy Kerrang! a lot a few years ago, but now I hardly do (I think its quite expensive for what it is now).
