Are you sick of reading about crap pop bands that write crap music, then don't buy smash hits you fool. Kerrang has everything you want to know about modern rock and metal music. Every week it is filled with interesting news, posters, competitions and stories from the week. The reviews section is about 10 pages long with all the new music releases as well as games films, books and gig guides. It has weekly single and album charts as well as a reader top ten. Every now and then it will give something away on the cover, things like stickers, posters and CD's. When it does have a CD it is usually full of quality new and unreleased tracks from all sorts of bands and defiantly makes the magazine worth buying.

Throughout the magazine there is a good sense of humour and the reviews and stories are written well. It has recently had a much-needed face lift and the design has improve a lot. At £1.65 this is fairly highly priced compared to other weekly music magazines but the quality is excellent and it profiles the whole rock scene not just concentrating on a few bands.

The editor, Phil Alexander, also has segment every week on the radio 1 rock show with Mary Anne Hobbs which is at 12pm on Tuesday nights.
