Disadvantages: It will contain occasionally groups that are not worth reading about
Kerrang! What can I say! In my personal opinion Kerrang! is one of the best magazines in the world. But even if it is to me one of the best, it could to better.
I have written about Metal Hammer in the past and I have said that compared to other magazines Metal Hammer was not that good and the magazine that I compared it to was Kerrang! Hey! I know some of the stuff that Kerrang! gets out is no use to the people like you and me, but there is a lot of stuff that is very interesting and will keep you informed about what’s going on. I am a reader and a fan. I buy every weekly issue of Kerrang! Why? This is why, their stories are up to date in almost every band that is worth listening to. I say almost every band because I come from Central America and their are bands that Kerrang! has never even heard about. Every weekly issue that Kerrang! relieses it contains news about groups, people in the groups, the groups tours etc. etc.
The last issue of Kerrang! (December 16 2000), the issue was brilliant!! The issue came with news from guys like Slayer, Metallica, Machinehead, Mudvayne plus many more and also came with reviews of new albums like the album from the Tattoo the Earth tour and many more. Every weekly issue contains similar news of groups and all kinds of reviews not only about albums, they also review live shows, rising new bands and many other things that you would not like to miss out on.
But it is always not this good, sometimes I have seen weekly issues of Kerrang!! that are absolutely rubbish. For example, October 21 2000, the issue came with news of groups like Sepultura,The Deftones and System of a Down but is this enough to pull out a week of music?? I think not.
But any way nothing will be always good.
Kerrang! have also released some issues that bring some additional stuff like Free CDs, the 100 greatest riffs ever!, calendars, posters, and a issue that Marilyn Manson edited him self.
In conclusion Kerr
ang! is a magazine that if you love music you don't want to miss. I am not saying that you will get everything but no one ever does.
