Advantages: Live performance coverage

Disadvantages: boring interviews about britney spears

I bought my first Kerrang magazine about a year ago, and got my weekly dose of metal news. However, I have recently stopped. This is a great magazine, it is a weekly magazine, so all the news is a lot more upto date than monthly mags such as Metal Hammer, and unlike Melody Maker it is specific to the metal/punk/rock scene rather than including news on rap and R n' B. Despite these advantages, nothing's perfect.

News
-------------------
The news section is great, like I mentioned it is upto date because it is weekly, however if you listen to the Radio 1 Rock Show, with Editor on the Edge Phil Alexander, then he will tell you all the news you need to know so spending £1.65 per week for just the news section is hardly worth it considering you can stay up until 2 in the morning every tuesday night!!

Interviews
-------------------
Many of the interviews are first class, but since the new 'Life is Loud' remake the interviews have lacked in relevant information. Previously there were detailed interviews with the majority of decent bands, however recently they seem to interview anybody about anything, and to be honest knowing what various metal stars would do with Britney Spears or saying why they think Fred Durst is idiot of the year isn't exactly what a metal fan wants to read. Not me anyway!

Live Coverage
--------------------
I've gotta say that out of all the music mags on the news stands, Kerrang does have the best coverage of live performances, it has several pages of live performances gone on throughout the world in the past week and several pages dedicated to gigs during the next week in the UK and also some news and information. All in all a good section!!

Other Sections
--------------------
Like all magazines, Kerrang has a two-page spread for your opinions, but to be honest I think your letter has to be totally irrelevant or boring as hell to be published. I'm n
ot too sure they want your opinions, just comments that don't make them look bad.
'Pandora' the comic strip in Kerrang is remotely funny and worth reading, however the other one - i forget the name - is boring and frankly pathetic!

Freebies
--------------------
Kerrang does well for freebies, posters, and damn good CD's, but only once every blue moon!!

In Conclusion
--------------------
Kerrang is a good read, and worth buying maybe once every other week, but like I said, it used to be better than it is!

I'd also like to say that Kerrang magazine doesn't appreciate punk music whatsoever, and gives bands like Green Day and Blink 182 very minimal ratings on live performanaces and CD's. However they seem to like Slipknot and Linkin Park a little too much!!
