Advantages: Great, top quality content, great value for money
Disadvantages: none
This magazine is a monthly title, subtitled "Learn To Pint With The UK's Most Popular Painting Magazine". Well I don't know if this publication is *the* most popular one as there are 3 or 4 art mags, but it certainly is a winner with me. From the glorious glossy cover, right through to the classifieds at the end of the magazine, this publication screams "Quality!" Although I don't paint as aften as I should these days (kids, spouse, home, life) I still buy the magazines about art as they are simplky a pleasure to read, even if you don't indulge yourself. Leisure Painter is a quick(ish) magazine which is bursting with quality content from start to finish. Here you get painting tutorials, which make up the bunk of the features, (although they don't always focus on painting per se), interviews, questions and answer, news and views. The magazine is geared to the ameteur or 'leisure' painter which is great because a large proportion of artists don't actully make a living from their work. All in all a top quality publication which is a pleasure to read.

- 05/09/00 I had Leisure Painter for years and I endorse it's value as a good magazine for leisure painters and those just beginning. The only reason I gave it up was because it started to get rather "awash" with articles on watercolour, to the detriment of other media. However, I would certainly recommend it to anyone reading this opinion or commentary. |
