Writing Magazine:
... have been a reader of Writing Magazine for several years, it is useful to read some of the features and learn about successful writers. However, what really annoys me is to read that so and so has just had a book/story accepted for publication, "their first effor"t, then by reading further we are told so and so is related to another famous writer or has been put in touch with an agent by a mutual friend. ... Time Out ... it s never been the case that I haven t been aware of Time Out Magazine, it s only in the last year and a half that I have come to love it as much as I do now. While I am at uni I buy it every week without fail; it is completely indispensable to me. When I started my second year one of my housemates was a student rep for Time Out, so she got every issue sent to her free. Therefore, we had countless issues lying all over our house, and this was when we all became completely dependent on it. When I m at home I do buy it less, but this is because I m further away from London than I am when I m at uni, and the journeys into town are less frequent. In London it can be... Writers Forum ... my spare time, I m a writer. I write short stories and reviews (obviously) with the occasional attempt at a novel. As well as various comedy pieces and poems as the mood takes me. As I write to be read, I m always looking out for publishing opportunities, competitions and things. And so it is that about three times a year I make the time-honoured mistake of picking up a copy of Writer s Forum from Smiths. The format is set in stone. A picture of a (usually) female writer on the front, generally with a smaller photo of another writer who s just won their first publishing contract. Promises of fantastic competitions and awesome publishing opportunities are emblazoned a... Read the full review: Want to be a writer? Then put this down and write. by andrewl |

Writers Forum ... I realised that I should probably be numbered with those who spot trains, collect stamps and play Warhammer; in other words, I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession. I collect magazines about writing. Included in this growing collection are the most recent eight issues of Writers’ Forum (hereafter referred to as WF). Although I have avidly read each issue of this monthly magazine, until a couple of months ago my actual output of written words has been, well, almost non-existent. I’ve obviously been operating under the common delusion that the mere ownership of something is enough ... Read the full review: I Wannabe a Writer by Sally3 |
