Advantages: Reasonable price, plenty of fashion, plenty of beauty...
Disadvantages: Not many :S
I am a bit of a magazine addict...and I know "they" say that beauty magazines do nothing for you self esteem but I cannot help it, I need my fashion fix! When picking a magazine off of those crowded glossy magazine shelves I look for one with plenty of clothes/shoes/accessories; a good beauty section; and some real life stories to keep me amused on the train! I am happy to say that look ticks all the right boxes!
Firstly it has tons of fashion ideas. The first pages always include what is brand spanking new and what is popular. For example some cute shoes which have been spotted on a celebrity, or some little bracelets which are a bargain, it also includes a must have very expensive (in my eyes) item, for example a pair on Jimmy Choo shoes or a Chanel bag; these are sometimes good inspiration as to what you could be looking for as an essential fashion item! The fashion sections throughout the magazine are brilliant, it concentrates mostly on high street fashion which is ideal for those of us who do not have millions to spend every week on clothes and shoes. It has a few pages which section out key items from different shops, usually H&M is featured, as is Primark, Zara and Topshop. After this section there are a few pages in which models are showing off how to wear different trends which can again be inspirational for putting together an outfit. One page of the magazine also gives key websites...this is ideal as sometimes it shows websites which you may never have known existed and you can sometimes pick up some quirky unique little items to impress your mates!
As well as fashion beauty products are also looked at. Some beauty products are rated, for example 4 different lip glosses will be shown and these will be given stars as to how well they perform to give the reader an idea of what products work well and what ones are maybe worth avoiding. Beauty tips are also given which can be very helpful - for example how to exfoliate your face, how to apply red lipstick etc.
Real life stories are featured which are ideal quick reading when you are on the train. The stories are not the usual magazine ones - overly dramatic and unrealistic they are usually stories from third world countries which can be quite interesting as well as heartbreaking sometimes. A bit more thought provoking than some of the over exaggerated British stories!
The problems pages are also quite interesting. Not only are the usual relationship problems mentioned, but others for example financial problems, how to find cheap holidays, finding different gadgets and also health problems.
The price of the magazine is not to bad either - at £1.80 it is cheaper than some of the other glossies! And a lot of the time there are little promotions and stuff on so you can get it a little bit cheaper.
Summary: A great wee glossy!
