Advantages: tons of free offers, invitations and giveaways

Disadvantages: not every issue lets you subscribe - or has a giveaway for doing so.

I subscribed to this gorgeous magazine a little while ago, for the simply reason that it offered my favourite skincare products free as a thank-you gift.

The subscription was saving me around 25% on top of this amazing giveaway of around £28 worth of anti-aging creams from L'Oreal (much more than the annual subscription price itself!)

I have to admit that I hadn't given much thought to the actual content of the magazine at the time! Now, after a few issues - I'm well and truly hooked.

I love the stylish layout and quality of the articles. Adverts are thankfully few and far between, unlike more expensive glossies. It covers everything from health issues, beauty therapies, recipes, diet ideas, fashion and celebrity news. That's just about everything you'd get from a 'normal' mag but without the smut.

I find it a great read as it always gives me a new lease of life with the tips and ideas for looking and feeling fab.

Probably the best bit of all is the wonderful freebies you get with almost every issue. Last month there was free lip-gloss and blusher in a neutral, suits-everyone shade, strapped to the front of the magazine.

I've also just been to pick up £10 worth of free L'Oreal professional shampoo and conditioner - thanks to booking a free consultation with a nearby salon as part of a Marie Claire Health and Beauty offer in this month's issue.

The only disadvantage is that there is no subscription offer in this month’s magazine, so you can't get the deal I got just yet.

My advice though would be to keep an eye on this magazine and as soon as there's a subscription offer inside that you'd welcome into your bathroom cabinet - GO FOR IT!

Every woman loves unexpected gifts and within a year, you're sure to get a few more thrown in with this magazine.

And, if like me you love a nice bit of post - then that's another bonus. There's nothing better than hearing that satisfying t
hud on the doormat (too heavy to be a bill - must be a present!)

And indeed it is. The initial outlay is quickly forgotten and so it seems like a free issue every time!

Treat yourself, or a friend. I think it would be a lovely gift - particularly as it goes on and on giving!

Just hold back for that all singing all dancing subscription offer...

Subscription offers are great - but I prefer fashion mags rather than health and beauty ones. They always make me feel guilty about smoking or not drinking 8 pints of water a day or not spending my lunch hour jogging round St James' Park...

Cool! I agree - I subscribe to 'Glamour' for all these reasons. makes a lovely change from bad news and bills every morning - and free gifts are ace! (though apparently the postie hates them!) cheers, Karen
