Advantages: A magazine which understands that women want to read articles AND see the latest fashions.
Disadvantages: Only a minor quibble- ads seem to take up most of the magazine
There are many glossy magazines available now - Cosmopolitan, Elle and Marie-Claire being the three most well known. Having been a life-long Cosmo reader, it was only because the news stand had run out of Cosmo's that i bought Marie- Claire, not, in all honesty, expecting a very good read. I was proved wrong however, as compared to Marie-Claire, Cosmopolitan seemed to have been written with some sort of sex-crazy air-head in mind.
Marie- Claire gives it's readers features on issues in today's world. A recent issue contains an article on survivors of the Rwandan Massacre, an article on women in prison in the far east, an article on the practice of using underage girls as models, and an article on the hostessing industry in Tokyo.
As well as this, the magazine contains fashion which I find both affordable and desirable- (perhaps not what to wear while shopping, but definately full of outfits for special occasions.)
The magazine can be easliy subscribed to, with special deals offered to those who subscribe each month.
I have found Marie-Claire to be an interesting, informative read, covering areas as diverse as travel, interiors, music, films and fashion. This is a well balanced , intelligent magazine which covers every aspect of living the modern woman could wish for. Go out and Buy!
