Advantages: Interesting, topical articles.

Disadvantages: Heavy on fashion and sensationalism

Marie Claire has some interesting and topical articles, but why does it have so many booooring fashion pages. I bought the platinum issue, and right bang in the middle were wadges of boring, 'suitable for anorectics only' fashion. Why oh why, does there have to be so much of it? If you took it out, there wouldn't be much else.

In every issue there appears to be a 'sensational' topic to titilate the readers. If it wasn't so naff the readers that these bylines attract would also by the 'News of The World'. Marie Claire is just more 'socially acceptable'.

Issues such as child abuse, need to be discussed with maturity and not published in a 'true confessions' type way.

Freebies are just a gimmick, and I would prefer to buy a publication that didn't need gimmicks.

Well actually, I do know quite a bit about child abuse, as I used to be a casualty nurse, and came across evidence of it quite often. I have also worked in a psychiatric unit, where many of the clients have histories of horific abuse. Just reading about something doesn't necessarily make you knowledgable or indeed an expert. If they (M.C.)weren't sensationalising there articles, why would they be headlined on the front page. Think about it.
